MANDATORY HUNTER SAFETY TRAINING
Recreatioanl fishing and hunting licenses may be purchased by telephone using
Visa, or MasterCard. Call toll free 1-888/765-2602. An authorization
number for immediate use will be provided and licenses will be mailed to
the licensee.

All persons born on or after September 1, 1969, must show proof of satisfactorily
completing a Hunter Safety course approved by LDWF to purchase a Basic Hunting

rails, snipe, coots or gallinules) in Louisiana must be HIP certified in
addition to their appropriate licenses.

LIFETIME LICENSE FEES
NOTE:Lifetime licenses are available from the Baton rouge office only.
Applicants are required to have lived in Louisiana for the immediate twelve
months prior to making application to qualify for resident rates. Proof of
residency such as a copy of your current Louisiana Driver's license, voter's
registration card, vehicle registration and previous year state tax filing,
stamped by Department of Revenue & Taxation must accompany application.
Lifetime Licenses include basic hunting, big game hunting, muzzleloader,
bow hunting, state waterfowl stamp, and turkey stamp.

EXCEPTIONS AND EXEMPTIONS
A. The following recreational fishermen and hunters are not required
to obtain a basic recreational fishing license, saltwater license, basic
hunting license, big game license or migratory waterfowl conservation stamp,
but must have proof of age in their possession whenever fishing or hunting:
1. Residents 60 years of age or older
2. Residents and non-residents younger than 16 years of age
B. The following recreational fishermen and hunters, upon identification
and proof of eligibility satisfactory to the Department, shall be issued
a basic recreational fishing license, saltwater license, basic hunting license
and big game license without payment of any fees:
1. A resident who is a VETERAN of the armed forces or Louisiana National
Guard, having a permanent SERVICE CONNECTED disability classification of
fifty percent (50%) or more. Must submit form signed by parish service
officer.
2. A resident who is blind, paraplegic or is a multiple amputee. Must submit
doctors statement.
C. No person born on or after Sept. 1, 1969, shall hunt with a firearm
unless that person has first been issued a certificate of satisfactory completion
of a firearm and hunter education course taught or approved by the Department
of Wildlife and Fisheries. However, a person younger than 16 years of age
may hunt without such certificate if he is accompanied by and is under the
direct supervision of a person 18 years of age or older.
D. Any U S citizen who is issued a Green Identification Card from
the armed forces of the United States that signifies that he is currently
on active military duty shall be required to pay a fee equal to the fee charged
a Louisiana resident. Any licenses purchased under this provision shall be
valid only during that time when the licensee is on active duty in the armed
forces of the United States. This provision does not apply to the pruchase
of lifetime licenses. The Green ID Card and the appropriate license must
be on his person at all times when he is engaged in hunting or fishing
activities.
