he only permanent solution to the problem of war is to create a OneWorld community. This would be a unity of diversity, like the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, not like a brick wall.
The world has consciously and unconsciously been creating a global community for more than a century, beginning with the Olympic Movement, and followed by the United Nations, the jet plane, the communications satellite,
international science, business and entertainment, and now the World Wide Web. It is more important to create a single super-community than it is to create a world government.
efore the US Civil War, we had one government, but unfortunately, two communities, increasingly at odds. Today, every American's first allegiance is the USA, and not to their own state.
In the same way, OneWorld will have been created when we are all first and foremost, Earth citizens, and only secondly, Serbs,
Croats, or Muslims.
hat is the magic alchemy that makes a higher community out of diverse smaller communities? I must confess I don't know. But it is the most important problem facing us,
since so many other things depend on creating the OneWorld community. World government, global ecology, a Earth-centered sustainable economy, and the permanent end to war. These are but a few benefits of OneWorld.
But how do we create it? Why do some people hold on to ancient hatreds, while others have managed to go through a "melting pot" process and become a new people, with a higher allegiance? These things have
happened more or less by accident in the past. But we can study those "accidents," and possibly learn something.
ne thing I do know is that the key to solving the world's problems is knowledge, not just knowledge of facts and explanations, but knowledge of values, particularly social ideals.
I have invented a science of values, called "Utopian Analysis." The equivalent of a theory is a social ideal, such as socialism. The equivalent of a test is a political experiment, such as the 72 year experiment in Communism
by the Soviets. The equivalent of a fact is a normative particular, which is just the observed outcome of a political experiment. For instance, Communism was a total failure. Its failure serves to refute the ideals upon which
it was based, such as the ideal of socialism, and the ideal of "big brother knows best," the authoritarian principle. When all the alternatives have been refuted, a well-tested survivor stands out as a well-established theory.
That is the rule in physics, and it is the rule in Utopian Analysis.
ow will we ever put these ideas into effect? We are cynical, we are apathetic. Is it even possible to change society without violence?
Yes, because science is universal, its truths recognized everywhere, because they can be shown to any ignorant or skeptical person. Universality
leads to unanimity of thought which leads to unity in action. Society will change when its leaders
know what needs to be done.
