Being a mother of an eight and four year-old, I spend every day taking care of my children's needs, teaching them values, giving them love and happiness and guiding them with my life. Instead of just worrying about their safety in the years to come, I feel I took the next step and enrolled my eight year old daughter in Chung Moo Doe for self defense. I felt she could take what she learned with her all through her life, and use it to protect herself if ever necessary. Once my daughter started to practice, I felt the need to learn more about how her time was being spent and what better way them to join Chung Moo Doe Myself. In the beginning I thought my muscles could not handle some of the different exercises, but with time my muscles learned to adjust as I went on, and eventually I found myself looking forward to all the challenges we were offered during the lesson. Whether I would be holding a position or practicing different kicks, each time I learned to concentrate, by controlling my breathing, and push myself a little more. After a few months in Chung Moo Doe I decided to join a black belt course, and I can notice today, fourteen months later the changes in body and attitude. I've become more patient with others, and myself and also I've been recognizing and giving credit when and where it is due. I have just about forgotten my sensitive knees, which used to hurt when I would bend or kneel. Also the dizzy spells I used to get the past years when I stood up all of a sudden have not been noticed lately. Chung Moo Doe has given me a few fulfilling hours a week away from all my other responsibilities, time devoted only to me. I've also had the chance to meet new people from all different walks of life, and make new friends.

My name is Christina G. Saropoulos. I am 8 years old and I go to St. Catherine's School, and I am in
the third grade. I started Chung Moo Doe at a new school and I was one of the first children to sign up.
My parents and I thought it would be good for me to take up martial arts so I can defend myself. I have
been at Chung Moo Doe for one year and eight months. I enjoy doing the different exercises and my
favorite is "fat man 10" and I have used my self-defense a few times at school and they never mess with
me again.
I took part in a kick-a-thon to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. I participated in the first annual tournament of Chung Moo Doe and I won the first prize in Kata form ever given in my age group.
