Talking Drum is a two headed wooden drum with loose-fitting lacings connecting the two heads. The player plays the drum with a stick and at the same time, squeezes the lacings under his arm, thus creating variations in pitch. The drum derives its name from these many varied pitch sounds. [td] $80.

India And Pakistan
The Tabla is the most popular percussion instrument of northern India. The set
includes two drums, each tuned to a different pitch; the bayan (or doogi)),
played with the left hand, is a kettledrum made of brass. The tabla (right hand
drum) is made of wood. The heads are permanently treated with black tuning
paste. This is a professional model. The set comes complete with case, tuning

Dholak engraved brass from Pakistan is a two
heade d drum sometimes called a talking drum because the pitch can be changed by squeezing the string lacings. [db] $135.
Nepal And Tibet
Mahdal is
a two-headed cylindrical log drum from Nepal. It is a traditional folk
instrument made by the women and used mainly for dancing. The dancers who play
these drums while they dance are called Mahdalay (men) and Maruni (women).

Damaru with carry case. This damaru is used today in religious ceremonies of the Tibetan monks. The damaru is hand-crafted by the monks. Americas
Kayum,
terracotta drum, the prototype is over 2000 years old (Mayan). It can be played
3 ways: 1. playing with one hand and moving the other hand over the open hole
creates different pitches, 2. by resting the kayum on the forearm while the

a humorous looking gourd with a face carved in it, complete with white teeth and

head and body are gourds (maracas) and the arms are wood. The legs serve as a
