Aberdeen is in Central New Jersey near the PNC Bank Arts Center here in the Garden State. Fred Bull of Aberdeen, Scotland did a study on how many Aberdeens there are throughout the world.  Aside from the name Victoria, which became popular because of the British Empire, Aberdeen is the most popular name of towns that have named themselves. Here is the count of Aberdeens and I would not have guessed it. TOTAL Aberdeens worldwide = 36
Scotland = 1, USA = 20, Canada = 4, Caribbean = 3, United Kingdom = 2,  Africa = 2,  Asia = 2, Australia = 2

BOOK to read:  What You Think is What You Get .... George Lavenia

21 Good bits of advice about life:

  1. No one can ruin your day without YOUR permission.

  2. Most people will be about as happy, as they decide to be.

  3. Others can stop you temporarily, but only you can do it permanently.

  4. Whatever you are willing to put up with, is exactly what you will have.

  5. Success stops when you do.

  6. When your ship comes in.... make sure you are willing to unload it.

  7. You will never "have it all together".

  8. Life is a journey...not a destination. Enjoy the trip !

  9. The biggest lie on the planet: "When I get what I want I will be happy".

10. The best way to escape your problem is to solve it.

11. I've learned that ultimately , 'takers' lose and 'givers' win.

12. Life's precious moments don't have value, unless they are shared.

13. If you don't start, it's certain you won't arrive.

14. We often fear the thing we want the most.

15. He or she who laughs......lasts.

16. Yesterday was the deadline for all complaints.

17. Look for opportunities...not guarantees.

18. Life is what's coming....not what was.

19. Success is getting up one more time.

20. Now is the most interesting time of all.

21. When things go wrong.....don't go with them.

22. There is not enough darkness in the world to put out the light of one small candle.

My philosophy of life can be summed up

in the following words of wisdom:

Live In The Moment!!     Enjoy each day.

Do not take things too seriously.

TodaysAGiftGIF.gif (30102 bytes)

       Stop to smell the flowers.  Go with the flow!

  Love is the secret of happiness. Hate and Jealousy are the secrets of  unhappiness..

swirl1.gif (10070 bytes)

THE NEW TEN COMMANDMENTS

1. Thou shall not worry, for worry is the most unproductive of all human activities.

2. Thou shall not be fearful, for most of the things we fear never come to pass.

3. Thou shall not cross bridges before you come to them, for no one yet has succeeded in accomplishing this.

4. Thou shall face each problem as it comes.  You can only handle one at a time anyway.

5. Thou shall not take problems to bed with you, for they make very poor bedfellows.

6. Thou shall not borrow other people's problems.  They can better care for them than you can.

7. Thou shall not try to relive yesterday for good or ill, it is forever gone.  Concentrate on what is happening in your life and be happy now!

8. Thou shall be a good listener, for only when you listen do you hear different ideas from your own.  It is hard to learn something new when you are talking, and some people do know more than you do.

9. Thou shall not become "bogged down" by frustration, for 90% of it is rooted in self-pity and will only interfere with positive action.

10. Thou shall count thy blessings, never overlooking the small ones, for a lot of small blessings add up to a big one

Deepak Chopra's  "7 Spiritual Laws of Success"   show us the way to live.

click for=> Link to Deepak Chopra's website

"We are spiritual beings having a human experience." Chopra builds on this powerful thought in his cassette recording   that expands his life's work in spiritual approaches to daily living.  He includes useful suggestions on how to apply these fundamental natural principles if one is truly searching for purpose and a satisfying life.

These are his seven spiritual laws of success:     sun(1).gif (25824 bytes)

1... pure potentiality, ( Silent Meditation - Commune with Nature - Non-Judgment)

2... giving, ( Giving - Receiving -  Circulate)

3... karma, ( Witness Choices - Evaluate Consequences - Listen to your Heart)

4... least effort, ( Acceptance - Responsibility - Defenselessness )

5... intention and desire, ( List Desires - Release to the Universe - Present Moment Awareness )

6... detachment, (  Detached Involvement - Wisdom of Uncertainty - Infinite Possibilities )

7... dharma (  Discover the Higher Self - List Unique Talents - Serve Others )

I lead discussions on these 7 laws from time to time.

Please note that the 7 spiritual laws do not conflict with your regular religion, whatever it may be.   They supplement them.

I am a Universalist.  I never met a religion that I didn't like ... as long as it emphasizes human improvement, love, respect for all of GOD's creatures, etc.  They are just  different ways of getting to the same place.  The Higher Power is the higher power regardless of what name you use for him, her or it.  May the Universal Power bless us all ... and shine its light on all of us!!!

This website tells the Universalist story well =    http://www.humankindness.org/godletter.html

Whatever you put your attention on   will grow stronger in your life.   candle.gif (2779 bytes)

Whatever you take your attention away from will wither, disintegrate, and disappear."

< An Interesting Perspective on our world >

globe3.gif (10689 bytes)

"If we could at this time, shrink the Earth's population

to a village of precisely 100 people

with all existing human ratios remaining the same, it would look like this:

               There would be -

                     57 Asians,

                      21 Europeans,

                       14 from the Western Hemisphere, North & South America

                   8 Africans

                     70  would be non-white              -      30  white

70   would be non-Christian        -        30 Christian

50 percent of the entire world wealth would be in the hands of only 6   people
All
6  would be citizens of the United States.

70 would be unable to read
50 would suffer malnutrition (how sad!)
30 would live in substandard housing (according to our standards)
        and only
1 would have a college education.

"When one considers the world from such an incredibly compressed perspective,

the need for both tolerance and understanding becomes glaringly apparent." ~ author unknown ~

Excellent links of this item are shown below:

http://members.aol.com/mempenny6/paradox.html

 http://www.dobhran.com/greetings/GRinspire347.htm

or just read it below:

The paradox of our time in history

is that we have taller buildings, but shorter tempers;
wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints;
we spend more, but have less;
we buy more, but enjoy it less.

We have bigger houses and smaller families;
more conveniences, but less time;
we have more degrees, but less sense;
more knowledge, but less judgment;
more experts, but more problems;
more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much,
spend too recklessly, laugh too little,
drive too fast, get angry too quickly,
stay up too late, get up too tired,
read too seldom, watch TV too much,
and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values.
We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.
We've learned how to make a living, but not a life;
We've added years to life, not life to years.

We've been all the way to the moon and back,
but have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbor.
We've conquered outer space, but not inner space;
We've done larger things, but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul;
We've split the atom, but not our prejudice;
We write more, but learn less;
We plan more, but accomplish less.

We've learned to rush, but not to wait;
We have higher incomes, but lower morals;
We have more food, but less appeasement;
We build more computers to hold more information;
to produce more copies than ever, but have less communication;
We've become long on quantity, but short on quality.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion;
tall men, and short character;
steep profits, and shallow relationships.
These are the times of world peace, but domestic warfare;
more leisure, but less fun;
more kinds of food, but less nutrition.

These are days of two incomes, but more divorce;
of fancier houses, but broken homes.

These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers,

throw away morality, one- night stands,

  overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer to quiet, to kill.

It is a time when there is much in the show window,
and nothing in the stockroom;
a time when technology can bring this website to you,
and a time when you can choose

either to make a difference, or to just hit delete...
