Who are we?

The International Suchomlinskij Society endeavors to stimulate interest in and research on the writings of the well-known Ukrainian pedagogist Wasili Alexandrowitsch Suchomlinskij in order to give them more publicity and to propagate his ideas.

Who was Suchomlinskij?

V.A.Suchomlinskij (1918 - 1970) is THE great pedagogist in alternative education. His writings have been translated into 53 languages. His most famous book is "My heart belongs to the children".

What was he aiming at?

Based on nature he was educating his pupils ot unite feeling and thinking. He spoke about the culture of feeling and sentiments. He called for love and responsibility for nature and his fellow men and women.

What are we doing?

We cooperate closely with the "Ukrainian Suchomlinskij Society" (Kiew), which is trying to integrate Suchomlinskij's ideas into the actual education system of Ukraina, as well as with his daughter, Olga Suchomlinskaja (Kiew). Although Suchomlinskij is internationally renowned educator and his pedagogy is referred to in the educational practice in many countries, his books are no more available in Germany. One of our efforts is, therefore, to prepare a new edition of his books and make them available to a wider public.
