My Personal Opinions - I invite feedback!

The businesses in Parksville should be commended, they have built up while the county in general sank down.  Now I think that all of Parksville's hard work will be lost when they widen Route 17.  I think that money should be spent to build an overpass to fix the problem of having the traffic light instead.  If you think that becoming part of the larger road will help the county at large, think again.  If this goes though, tourists can just zip over to "Gerrywood", then perhaps pay a visit to Apollo Plaza, all without having to bother with the rest of the area.   (Was money ever offered to fix the danger before Allen Gary purchased the Woodstock site?)

Most people do not even realize there is no exit on 17 East for Harris Hospital.  It is ludicrous to add the one to Apollo Plaza before the one to the hospital!  Promoted as a means to cut down on the congestion on Broadway in Monticello, it will also route their customers away.  (Again this did not come to pass until Allan's big plans were announced.)

~

I think Allen Gerry will get more benefits from tax breaks than the residents will from his "Woodstock Site" plans.  As far as I know he has even not contributed to the arts locally.  I think he will plan his compound to keep visitors inside, by providing everything needed.

(Ever wonder about why our Governor didn't answer county pleas for help until Gerry held the original site?)

On a related item: I understand that the Town of Bethel has decided it didn't like New York State's laws pertaining to mass gatherings, so they passed their own.

I believe that money given to organizations like the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance is a better investment to the future of the arts in the county.  The people involved already give their time and talent; this is where their interests lie!

If you shop at our Radio Shack Stores in Monticello and Liberty, make sure you know the store's policy.  Some owners only have a franchise, and they have their own rules.

~

Please do not think that all residents in Sullivan County have the same attitude as the greedy businesses that like to scalp visitors.
