WHO IS THE CHRIST OF CHRISTMAS
John 1:1-5
John 1:1-5 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and
the Word was God. .... The same was in the beginning with God. ...All things
were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. ...In
him was life; and the life was the light of men. ...And the light shineth
in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
ILL: A Child Wort a letter to his Aunt, ..... “Dear Aunt Sarah: Thank
you for the Christmas PRESENT that you sent to me. The PRESENT you sent,
... was ALMOST as GOOD as the one ... I REALLY WANTED!
God has given us a CHRISTMAS PRESENT in the form of HIS SON, the LORD JESUS
CHRIST, and it is a GIFT GREATER than we could have ever imagined or
wanted.
ILL: John Does not say anything about the BIRTH OF JESUS. In his book you
find No Manger, No Angels, No Shepherds, nor
Bethlehem. John says nothing about the BAPTISM of JESUS, nor the GARDEN
OF GETHSEMANE. JESUS gave 39 PARABLES, but not one of them is found
in John.
ILL: In these 5 VERSES of 65 WORDS, John gives us ENOUGH TRUTH and THEOLOGY
about the PERSON of CHRIST to fill up 5 books and 65,000 words. John
it is said wort on a 7th GRADE READING LEVEL.
1. Matthew, Mark, Luke ... looks at Christmas through the Eyes Of MAN.
2. JOHN looked at God’s CHRISTMAS THROUGH THE EYES OF GOD.
I. THE CHRIST OF CHRISTMAS IS JESUS
THE WORD.
John 1:1 In the beginning was THE WORD, and THE WORD was with God, and THE
WORD was God.
John 1:14 And THE WORD was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld
his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace
and truth.
(a). Jesus Is Eternally
God.
John 1:1 In THE BEGINNING was THE WORD,
1. THE WORD does not refer to a START, but to a STATE.
(JESUS EXISTED IN AN ETERNAL STATE)
Before the COSMOS ... there was CHRIST,
(b). Jesus Is Equally
God.
John 1:1 ... “the Word was WITH GOD,.....”
{“with God” WITH = face to face with God}
(c). Jesus Is Essentially
God.
John 1:1 .... “and the WORD WAS GOD”
{“he that has seen me has seen the Father”} {“I and My
Father are One”}
II. THE CHRIST OF CHRISTMAS IS JESUS
THE WORKER.
John 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made
that was made. {Jesus has been busy .... up in HEAVEN and EARTH}
(a). Jesus Created All
Things.
John 1:3 ALL THINGS were MADE by HIM”...
1. The CHRIST of CHRISTMAS is the CREATOR of GENESIS 1:1.
2. This World is too much of a MARVEL to have EVOLVED.
3. The Computer = See Gen 1:1. I heard of a story about some scientist who
were gathering information to determine when the earth was created. The
information was punched into a giant computer, as the men breathlessly gathered
around the computer. It is said after the computer hummed, rattled; and finally
printed out the message ....: See GENESIS 1:1
4. One molecule of a drop of water, if converted into grains of sand ...there
would be enough sand to build a CONCRETE HIGHWAY half a mile WIDE and one
FOOT THICK all the way from NEW YOUR to SAN FRANCISCO.
5. One Cell from the Body = contains 200 billion molecules of atoms.
(b). Jesus Controls All
Things.
Col 1:16-17 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that
are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions,
or principalities, or powers: ALL THINGS were CREATED BY HIM, and for him:
... And he is before all things, and BY HIM ALL THINGS CONSIST.
The Word “CONSIST” = literally means “to hold together”
Jesus is holding every thing together.
III. THE CHRIST OF CHRISTMAS IS JESUS
THE WAY.
John 1:4 In HIM WAS LIFE; and the LIFE was THE LIGHT OF MEN.
(a). Jesus Can Bring Life To The
Dead.
John 1:4 “In HIM was LIFE.....”
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and THE LIFE: no
man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life:
and they are they which testify of me.
John 5:40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have LIFE.
John 17:3 And this is LIFE ETERNAL, that they might know thee
the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
(b). Jesus Came To Bring Light To
The Dark.
John 1:4-5 .... “and the LIFE WAS the LIGHT OF MEN.”... And the
LIGHT SHINETH in DARKNESS; and the darkness comprehended it not.
john 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the
world: HE THAT FOLLOWETH ME shall not WALK IN DARKNESS, but shall have THE
LIGHT OF LIFE.
