THREE UNAVOIDABLE ISSUES FOR
1998
James 4:13-17 Go to now, ye that say, To day or
to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy
and sell, and get gain: ... 14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow.
.. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little
time, and then vanisheth away. 15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will,
we shall live, and do this, or that. 16 But now ye rejoice in your boastings:
all such rejoicing is evil. 17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good,
and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
Sooner or later, we must face the fact that every thing in LIFE is not going
to be GOOD for us. Think of facing the Inevitable In This New Year 1997,
what will it HOLD for some of us? People and even CHURCH MEMBERS are LOOKING
to other things for FULFILLMENT and HOPE. Some have turned to social drinking,
and in “moderation”, what you thought you could get by with, has CONQUERED
YOU. That’s what’s wrong with moderation. Some think that drinking in moderation
is “all right”, but at the same time we would not think it right to
be a “moderate thief”. It may be PILLS, DRUGS, SEX, maybe you have
CHEATED on your mate and it has been going on for years. Sooner or Latter
we all have to “FACE THE INEVITABLE”.
James Gives us some things to ponder ... and brings us FACE TO FACE with
ACCEPTING REALITY.
According To James There Are Three Inevitable Facts, We
Need To Accept As Reality:
I. MATERIAL GAIN CANNOT BRING FULFILLMENT.
James 4:13 Go to now, ye that say, To day
or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and
buy and sell, and get
gain:
(a). A Foolish Presumption.
James 4:13 ... To day or to morrow
we will go into such a city, and CONTINUE THERE A YEAR,
Isa 56:12 Come ye, say they, I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves
with strong drink; and to morrow shall be as this day, and much more
abundant.
Luke 12:19-20 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou HAST MUCH GOODS laid
up for MANY YEARS; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said
unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee:

(b). A Finalized Prosperity
James 4:13 “....and GET
GAIN:”

II. THE MORROW CANNOT BE FORECASTED.
James 4:14 Whereas
YE KNOW NOT WHAT SHALL BE ON THE MORROW. For WHAT IS YOUR LIFE? It is even
a VAPOUR, that APPEARETH for a little time, and then VANISHETH AWAY.
(a). The Principle We Ought To Remember.
James 4:14 Whereas
ye know not what shall be on the MORROW.
Prov 27:1 Boast not THYSELF OF TO MORROW; for thou knowest not what a day
may bring
forth.
(b). The Proclamation We Ought To Recognize.
James
4:14 For what is your life? It is EVEN A VAPOUR, that APPEARETH for a LITTLE
TIME, and then VANISHETH AWAY.
Life Is Always Fleeting, Uncertain, with Trials and Afflictions.
Ps 102:11 My days are like a shadow that declineth; and I am withered like
grass.
Job 8:9 (For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days
upon earth are a shadow:)
1 Chr 29:15 For we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as were all
our fathers: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is none
abiding.
III. THE MASTER CANNOT BE FORGOTTEN.
James
4:15-17 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do
this, or that. But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is
evil. Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him
it is sin.
(a). The Secret Shelter For Our Life.
James
4:15-17 For that ye ought to say ={instead of saying the above}, If the LORD
WILL, we shall live, and do this, or that.
1 Cor 4:19 “But I will come to you shortly, if the LORD WILL, and I
WILL.....
Eph 5:17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the
Lord is.
(b). The Sensible Solution For Our Life.
James 4:17.“ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing
is evil. Therefore to him that KNOWETH TO DO GOOD, and DOETH IT NOT, TO
HIM..SIN
Luke 12:47 And that servant, which knew HIS LORD'S WILL, and prepared
not himself, neither did according to HIS WILL, shall be beaten with
many stripes.
John 13:17 If ye KNOW these THINGS, happy are ye if YE DO them.
John 15:22 If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin:
but now they have no cloke for their sin.
