By adopting a rescue Samoyed, you are helping to save the life of a dog in need of a new forever home. By not purchasing a Samoyed from a pet store, puppy mill, or backyard breeder you are refusing to support the puppies-for-profit industry. Rescue organizations are not against all breeding. There are high quality conscientious breeders who understand the need to continue the breed and are breeding to improve the Samoyed breed and not to perpetuate the problem. Many of these breeders participate in rescue themselves.

Rescuing Samoyeds is a very important part of our club and one that is very dear to our hearts. Anytime that one of these wonderful dogs can be saved, we have done our jobs. Another big part of rescue is public education about the breed that we love and support for their new owners.

If you have never owned a Samoyed before and are considering either buying or rescuing one, please read this first.

|
Samoyeds are high energy dogs that want to be included in all family activities. These dogs do not make good outside dogs in Florida, because of the heat, and do require exercise to channel that energy. A fenced in yard is definitely recommended. Samoyeds are an extremely intelligent breed and will keep you on your toes.
Males are around 21- 23 1/2 inches and 45 - 70 pounds.
Females are 19 - 22 inches and 35 - 50 pounds.
With heartworms being a problem in Florida, year-round heartworm preventative is a must as well as a yearly visit to your veterinarian for your dogs vaccinations.
