"Kiss"
Your pig can easily learn this trick and may eventually give you spontaneous kisses. Your pig first must be gentle before you invite him to put his snout on your lips! If your pig snaps at treats, gentle him first by gradually teaching him with smaller and smaller treats, thus encouraging him to open his mouth less. If your pig will take a treat by opening his lips slightly and does not snap, you are ready to kiss. For your own comfort, clean and dry piggys nose before each training session.
There are two ways to teach kiss - one by feeding treats from your lips, the other by direct modeling.
The treat method: Place a medium-sized treat between your lips. You may wish to start with something long, like a string bean or carrot stick. Kneel in front of your pig, hands behind your back to avoid distraction, and offer the treat. Piggy takes the bean, and you say "good piggy - kiss!"; repeat several times before progressing down to a smaller treat such as a chunk of salt-free pretzel or popcorn. Piggy should take the treat with his lips. Now say "good piggy - kiss!" only if he brushes your lips with his snout as he takes the treat.. Finally, offer your lips to kiss and reward him when the snout touches your lips
The direct modeling method: If your piggy is already very gentle, simply kiss your pig on his rubbery snout! Say "kiss!" and offer a reward. Your piggy should soon associate the kiss with the treat and willl offer you his snout as often as possible. Combine this with "I love yous" , hugs, and stroking, and your piggy will soon learn the true meaning of the kiss. Our piggies now come running whenever we yell "kiss", and always oink softly at us when kissing. Were pretty sure "oomph-oomph" means "I love you"!
