Fay Schlotfeldt's Genealogy Page: U.S.A., Germany, South Africa,
Australia and Brazil yield Family Trees with the names Schlotfeldt,
Schlottfeldt, Schlotfelt and Schlotfeld. Now we need translations
in English, German, Spanish and Portuguese when only two were needed. :-)
Glad you are looking

SCHLOTFELDT FAMILIES, CHECK THIS OUT.
For those in Germany, Vielen Dank fuer Eure
Notizen.
Un especial Hola to those in Santiago, Chile and the Schlottfeldts in Brazil.
In October of 1998 we were lucky to find new charts brought from Germany to
Chile by Carmen Schlotfeldt Leighton's Great- Grandfather. It clears up many
questions and makes links back to 1656 in Klein Flintbek, Germany. Those
names have been worked to our family tree file and make solid connections
with families we have been communicating with in Germany. In Nov. 1998 we
have found a Schlotfeldt in Johannesburg, S. Africa with roots in Flintbek.
In 2006 we found another.
As of June 1999 Suzette Schlotfeldt of Denmark had worked some of her
ancestors back to Kiel in the 1800s and we are looking for more links there.
Also, Tom Roar Eikebrokk of Norway is researching the reported old spelling
of "Slotvelt" with his newly discovered Schlotfeldt ancestors who
went to Norway from Schleswig Holstein and changed their name to
"Skyliholdt" (the name of the farm). One of our German cousins is
certain that the old Danish spelling of our name was Slotueld or
Slotveld.
We also keep finding new updates and additions to the tree via incoming and
outgoing inqueries from the World Wide Web. For example, in Sept. 2002, we
heard from Alexej and Vera Schlotfeldt-Schaefer from Germany. Their father is
from Chile. In 2003 we heard from many more who exchanged family information
with us. Thanks to all of you.
We have found a Schlottfeldt (double t) family with links to Schleswig
Holstein in the 1850s from their current history in Brazil and they are still
backtracking their family story. The principal researchers are Gustavo
Schlottfeldt and his sister, Luisa McEwen. Very interesting. We became
very lucky in 2003 when several branches of the families made contact with us
and filled in a number of "blanks". We were also fortunate when CLAUS REESE
of Reesdorf, Germany sent us several Landesarchiv Schleswig sales contracts
from the 1600s and 1700s plus our 2nd Great Grandfather, Hans Henry's farm
sale of "Scholensegen" near Klein Barkau, Germany in 1852. In May of 2004 we
heard from the Schröder family who live in Scholensegen still. Over 150
years! It also turns out that Claus Reese is a cousin! He is descended from
our 3rd Great Grandfather. One of that Grandfather's granddaughters married
an earlier Claus Reese. Claus's son,Kai, still farms the place in Reesdorf. We
appreciate his research. The old contracts are invaluable. If any of you
want copies, please contact us.
We have collected a large tree and also several smaller trees that we keep
linking. Some are based on evolved names like SCHLOTFELT where old
documents spell the names two or three ways on the same document. We have a
fair sized file based on CHRISTIAN SCHLOTFELDT who settled in Grand Island,
Nebraska USA in the late 1800s. We have not yet found the link to the big
file but are back to the same Kiel area and are sure we are related.
We are adding many pictures and some document copies to the FAMILY TREE
MAKER personal web page linked at the bottom of the page. We think you will
find it interesting.
ANNA SCHLOTFELDT in ADELAIDE,AUSTRALIA and aunt Birgit have given us a file
that in 2007 we have linked back to Klein Flintbek. Her family is related to Carl
Schlotfeldt's family in Johannesburg, So. Africa. In 2003 we did Link Carl's
family back to old Jochim. Also in 2003 and 2004 we linked several other of our
smaller families to our "Big" Schlotfeldt chart. Marga Schlotfeldt of Meimers-
dorf, Germany has added many names & see Corrina's links below.
In the meantime, we are still a "collection" of "SCHLOTFELDTS".

The Coat-of-Arms pictured was sent
to Fay Schlotfeldt in Aug. of 1997
by Hans-Hinrich Schlotfeldt of Klein Flintbek, Germany
via his sister, Christiana Barthel on a trip to Arizona (Grand Canyon, etc.)
with her husband Hartmut.
It is reportedly the crest of
HINRICH SCHLOTFELDT
A 17th Century Monestary area Farm owner (Klausterlichen Hufner)
of Klein Flintbek (1600s)
(If your picture is not clear, that is an oak
tree branch with acorns on the lower left and bees on the upper right. We
assume from the wings
that he had fast horses.)

If you are researching the Schlotfeldt family
we may be able to help you. We have over 5000 names of my ancestors and their
children. On the SCHLOTFELDT side we go back to the 1600s in Klein Flintbek,
Germany and in the USA from about 1851.
We have other Schlotfeldt trees and information on the meaning of the name.
In Aug. of 1999 Cousin Jim of Washington D.C. visited Klein Flintbek,
Flintbek and Klein Barkau, Germany. He visited cousins Hans-Hinrich and wife
Erica, Claus-Jürgen, Christiana and their families and brought back
pictures of the place where 3rd Great Grandfather Jochim was born in April of
1774. It was exciting for us to see this place because the U.S.
"progenitor" of many of us, Hans Hinrich Schlotfeldt, was also born
here in 1808. I have put a 4-picture .jpg on a quick "More
Schlotfeldt" aol page. The thatched roof house and one of the barns in
the picture is part of that. "Hof" It is also on cousin Corinna
Tomforde's web site, linked above. Cousin Marga in Meimersdorf has them too.
I will try to add a recent 'Kronik' photo of the Klein Barkau Hof where the
family lived in the 1830s and 40s and early 50s, just before coming to the
U.S. It was called 'Scholensegen' then, and still is. In May of 2004 we were
lucky to hear from a member of the Schröder family who bought it over 150
years ago and still live there. We have more recent pictures from Klaus Struve.
(See the "Fay Jan's More" page link above and the Familytreemker Schlotfeldt
site for pictures.)
The RASCHE/RIEKE side of my family I have back to 1555 in Bavenhousen,
Germany.
If you communicate in German it's OK, but it
will take me a little while to get it translated before I can reply.
Wenn Sie auf deutsch es mitteilen, gut ist, aber es wird für mich eine
Weile dauern, es zu erhalten, übersetzt wird, der bevor ich erwidern
kann.
The same is true with Spanish and Portuguese.
I had a counter here that reset at 0 after 5000 hits. It seems to disappear
from time to time. I'll try to keep it there but my skills may hold me back.
:-) Wish me luck. :-)
