WARNING: You may NOT want to read this page if you have not seen "Schindler's List".
The scene is set, Oskar Schindler (Liam Neeson) has just spoken to Amon Goeth (we all know who plays him), one of his fellow Nazi's. In this conversation, Oskar has tried his best to explane to the demented Goeth, that, in letting a prisoner go, bye "pardoning" him, he will gain more power among the people, than if he where to kill the prisoner. Oskar tells Goeth about a man who "pardoned" a member of his community, and in turn gain more power than if he had killed him. Always respecting Oskar's opinions and suggestions, Goeth puts his 'mentor's', if you will, advice to thought. Later that day he arrives at his home where a Jewish boy has not been able to get stains out of Goeth's bath tub. Fearing for his life the boy naturaly trembles.... Amon puts out two fingures, and says "I pardon you." We all know what happens to the boy afterwords. But it is in this sequence of scenes that I think Fiennes does some of his most wonderful artwork. After the boy leaves, Amon looks in the mirror with the look of death, puts his two fingures out and says agian "I pardon you." It is in that scene that Ralph is god among actors. "Are you talking to me?" has nothing on that scene! Anyone in there right mind who saw that was scared s***less for that kid! And rightly so. But for any actor to be able to build a character up so much that he puts that much fear into an audience has a talent that words will never be able to describe.
Amon Goeth: The model citizen. Just to give you an idea (if for some wierd reason you forgot) of how diabolic the mind of a person such as Amon Goeth, here is a scene in a cab:
The Driver: "Do you have any questions sir?"
Amon: "Yeah, why is the top down I'm f***ing freazing"
In another scene, Oskar Schindler is hoesing off some of his workers that are currently on a train. After all that Amon has done to his fellow man he says, "Oskar, your giving them hope. ...Now that's cruel!"
