Wether you're a local, or you live across the state, or across the country, or even further, we invite you to come on down to beautiful Fort Lauderdale this November 2nd, 3rd, and 4th 2007 to join us for some stainless fun in the Florida sun as we celebrate all things Delorean: the car, the man, the history, and the dream.

In addition to the main focus on our Delorean cars, we will also be celebrating other aspects of the history of both the man and the car. We will be honoring the "Back To The Future" connection of the Delorean by working with our partners at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival to present a FREE 7:30pm Friday evening outdoor "Movie In The Park" screening of the original "Back To The Future" film. Before the screening, the one and only Jeffrey Weissman, who played the character of "George McFly" in both "Back To The Future" sequels, will be there with us in person for a private "members only" pre-film meet and greet dinner and cocktails gathering at the Briny Riverfront Irish Bar & Restaurant, located just steps away from the screening location. Jeffrey is a fun & dynamic entertainer and an all-around great guy, and you can find out more about him at his website located at www.jeffreyweissman.com Jeffrey plans to be with us throughout the weekend, so don't miss your opportunity to meet & get to know him with us.

In another big development as our event draws ever closer, I am happy to be able to confirm that the legendary "Time Car" and it's owners, Terry & Oliver Holler, will be joining us for the weekend. Their car has been proclaimed "Best DeLorean Time Machine", by Bob Gale, Writer/Producer of the "Back To The Future" trilogy himself. If you've never seen it before, you won't want to miss it. We'll even be raffling off a ride "15 minutes into the future" in the "Time Car" at the show on Saturday afternoon. If you haven't registered your car for the show yet, do it NOW! And if you're just a local fan dropping by to see the cars at the Saturday show, that is still FREE so come on by and take a look. See y'all soon in Fort Lauderdale, in less than two weeks...

Now you can see and get your picture taken with not just one, but TWO of the world's best loved film & television automotive icons, as we will now be joined by Steve Wojtanek and his amazing Bat Car! We're also working on a possible THIRD great famous movie car that may be able to join us, watch this space for more info...

In another homage to history we plan to open the Saturday car show not only to our own Deloreans, but also to a limited number of local Chevy, Pontiac, Chrysler and Packard owners, representing each of the four main companies that played a major part in John Delorean's pre-DMC career, as well as some classic 50's era cars for the "Back To The Future" theme and fellow "gull wing", "scissor" and other vertical door cars. And in another nod to John Delorean's heritage, our Saturday evening awards dinner is planned to be held in the Fort Lauderdale Antique Car Museum, which is set up as a replica of a classic Packard dealership, and with a recent expansion to the museum now open and over 30 original restored classic Packards on display, comprising the larges single collection in the world. As you may already be aware of, we have been working for some time now on trying to confirm a really special guest from John Delorean's past to join us as our keynote speaker for the awards dinner, and I'm sorry to have to say that although we, and he, gave it our best efforts, in the end he has simply been unable to get out of a standing work commitment and will not be able to join us after all. To clear up the mystery, the gentleman was none other than world renowned "lawyer to the stars" Howard Weitzman, who made headlines back in the 1980s as the lawyer who took on John Delorean's famous drug trafficing case. In what has been called the first major court case to have been tried in the spotlight of the modern "media circus", he cut the government's allegations to ribbons and brought home a victory for John Delorean with full acquittals on all charges. Although Howard will not be with us at this show, he has asked to be invited back again if we do another event, and with more advance notice would most likely be able to make it. So, let's do our best to take Howard up on his offer and help to ensure that there is ANOTHER Florida Delorean Festival in the future, by coming out to support this FIRST one! Now, with barely over two weeks until the show, we are without a "major guest speaker" for the awards dinner - or are we?... Our friend Ken Koncelik, the founder & head of the long-running DCS, the world's largest Delorean car shows, has reminded me on several occasions that we already have among us many Delorean owners & enthusiasts with some often amazing stories to tell about their cars and their personal experiences in the Delorean community, and that they should be recognized and brought to the forefront. In recognition of that spirit, we will be opening the mike to a number of our very own, to tell us their own unique tales of the very unique car that we all love (and if YOU have something special that you'd like to add about YOUR experiences, we'd like to include YOU as well, so please do contact us about it NOW and we'll try to make room for you to speak as well.) It should make for a very interesting evening. I'm also looking into another, smaller, possible surprise guest, but I won't be sure about it until literally the last minute, so just wait and see what happens...

On Sunday morning you can look forward to a scenic driving tour / road rally heading northward up the beautiful beachfront coast at a nice liesurely pace while we take in the oceanfront view, and then back via the Interstate for some faster paced driving, followed by our final special activity, a farewell all-you-can-eat buffet brunch before we say goodbye to our "Back To The Future" guest Jeffrey Weissman, and to all the friends, old and new, whom we have shared a wonderful weekend with. I should also mention that we are working directly with Stephen Wynne at DMC Texas who is trying to coordinate the final details of what we hope will be a very special surprise that no Delorean owner or enthusiast will want to miss, and as soon as he can tell us that it is 100% certain, we'll tell you here exactly what the surprise is, and where we will fit it into our schedule, so keep watching this space for more news, and if you haven't registered yet to come out and join us, then make your plans and do it NOW...

We've got a full weekend of activities planned, and you can do as much of it, or as little, as you like. And you may want to take a few extra days before and/or after the weekend to enjoy the famous laid-back Fort Lauderdale atmosphere on one of the world's most famous beaches, as our hotel, the beautiful and remarkably affordable Tropi Rock Resort, has rooms blocked out for us from the Wednesday before through the Wednesday after the show weekend, at some unbelievable rates for a boutique resort just off the main beachfront strip.

We've finally set our membership registration prices, please CLICK HERE for full information. And as an incentive to try and get more Deloreans into the show, our sponsors at DMC Florida have generously offered to pay HALF of the per-car registration fee for every Delorean entered in the Saturday show! Our thanks to them for continuing to support the Delorean community.

A Bit About Our Official Hotel

[Tropi Rock Logo]

The Tropi Rock Resort is a small (only 31 rooms) lovingly restored 50's / Art Deco era hotel (hey, that makes it sort of "Back To The Future" themed!...) that has been recently updated with all the modern ameneties in the rooms, including mini-fridges in the standard rooms, and full kitchens in the suites. There is a lush garden courtyard with a central pool, and the beachfront is just a two minute walk up to the end of the block. We are close enough to the main beachfront strip to be near all the action, yet far enough off of it on a secluded side street to be able to safely park our cars away from heavy traffic and sea spray. There is no in-house restaurant, so therefore no room service, but lots of good places to eat are in close walking distance and/or offer free delivery service. Mick the owner and his family live on-site and offer friendly service, and as a bonus, he is a long time classic car collector, so he "gets" us. Oh, and the best part - room rates start at only $76 per night, a real bargain in this area! You can click on the link above to go directly to the Tropi Rock web site and get your reservation in NOW while there are still rooms available.
NEWS FLASH!
At the present time it is getting so close to the show that the Tropi Rock has had to release any unbooked rooms they may have been holding aside for our group back into open booking status for anyone who wants them. As of 14 October, there are now only 8 ROOMS still remaining in the entire hotel, some standard rooms, some efficiencies, so if you haven't booked your room yet, HURRY UP AND DO IT NOW while you still can, or you'll be forced to stay somewhere else, and most likely pay a lot more too! You can call the hotel directly at the toll-free number on their web site (click on the graphic link above for the hotel web site), to be SURE that they've got your booking, and tell them you're with Florida Delorean Festival. Should the Tropi Rock completely fill up, we have selected a back-up hotel within walking distance just around the corner from them, The Sea Club Resort where you can book for only a slightly higher rate.
