JANUARY 27, 1977
TO
MAY 24, 1996
As the third anniversary of Paul’s death approaches, I find myself in a very
different place than I was a year ago.
I know this has been a healing process
for my family.
3 years ago, I thought I did not want
to go on, could not possibly make it
through the unbearable pain that
I experienced the moment the police
entered our living room to tell us that
Paul was killed in an auto accident.
Now that the Third year is approaching
the numbness is wearing off. I find its
harder to believe!
A beautiful life, with everything
going for him, cut short.
Paul was certainly not an angel or saint.
He was a typical 19 year old, who
gave us anguish and joy. He was so happy
to finally get his eagle scout award
and to finish his first of many classes
toward becoming a paramedic or Doctor.
He could never decide which one!
He was so happy to get his new
truck and his first credit card. I will
never forget his smiling face when
that came in!!
He had such wonderful friends
everywhere he went. I didn’t realize this
until the day of the funeral just how many.
I want to thank everyone for helping
us get through these last 3 years.
You have been supportive of us, and in each
of your special ways, have been there to just
listen when we just needed to talk or cry.
I want to thank the people on our insanity list
for keeping me sane,
and for all your love and support
you have given me......
This year has been a roller coaster of
ups and downs, of dreams and
nightmares, of tears and sorrow.
Knowing that we will never again see his
smiling face, hear his voice,
or feel his touch almost paralyzes
me at times.
I know that Iam not the same person
I was before Pauls death. I can no
longer accept life for what it once
meant to me.
I know Paul is in a far better place than we are.. They are with God
My Dad, Mom and Brother Bobby
having one Great time!!!!!
Thank you all again for being here to help us get through our grief.
Love,
Linda and Mike

To Those I Love

When I am gone, release me, Let me go.
I have so many things to see and do.
You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears.
Be happy that we had so many beautiful years.

I gave to you my love. You can only guess
How much you gave to me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you each have shown,
But now it's time I traveled on alone.

So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must,
Than let your grief be comforted by trust.
It's only for a while that we must part,
So bless the memories within your heart.

I won't be far away, for life goes on.
So if you need me, call and I will come.
Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near.
And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear
All my love around you soft and clear.

And then, when you must come this way alone,
I'll greet you with a smile, and say---
"Welcome Home."
