Franklin Applied Physics, Inc.
Franklin Applied Physics, formerly Franklin Research Center, formerly Franklin Institute Research Laboratory, specializes in testing and evaluation of electro explosive devices (EEDs).
Blasting caps, automobile airbag systems, aerospace and Government systems are among those commonly tested.
Statistical firing tests (Bruceton, Probit, Langlie, etc.) are carried out on EEDs using every kind of stimulus, including electrostatic-discharge (ESD).
Radio frequency (RF) sensitivity of EEDs is measured in accordance with ISO 14304, MIL-I-23659C, MIL STD 1512 and MIL STD 1576. Test systems cover frequencies from 1 MHz to 33 GHz.
During firing tests, EED input and output are recorded using a wide variety of sensors.
Nondestructive tests on EEDs include thermal time-constant measurement.
We manufacture special test equipment for explosive devices and materials.
In field tests, Franklin Applied Physics personnel monitor RF input power to electro explosive devices during irradiation of complete vehicles.
Our sponsors are Government agencies, manufacturers, oil and gas exploration companies - anyone concerned with EED applications, safety and reliability.
We have hosted Symposia on Explosives & Pyrotechnics, with attendance from all over the world.
We publish a monthly newsletter, “Explosives & Pyrotechnics.”
We advise users and designers of EED systems on meeting a wide variety of commercial and military specifications.
