Vince Ventura - played by Sean McCann

Security Gaurd Zombie Dad
The Prisoner
Bad Penny

The round and portly man employed as a night watchman at Riverside Storage in "The Prisoner" was Vince Ventura. While he was investigating a break-and-enter on the premises one evening, he struggled unsuccessfully with the invisible intruder Dayton Railsback and was shot in the stomach at point-blank range with his own gun. He died instantly. Later on in the episode "Bad Penny", Vince was brought back to life by his son, Johnny, with the Coin of Zaecles. His resurrection was short-lived as Jack and Micki forced Johnny to reverse the curse so that his father could rest in peace.

Vince Ventura was a working-class man and led a simple life. His interests and hobbies included socializing with friends on the police force, attending ball games as well as going on camping and fishing trips with his only son. He had a good relationship with Johnny and taught him a decent set of morals. He was close to retirement age, and ironically, he spoke of his fear of prematurely dying, just minutes before his fateful run-in with Railsback. As a resurrected corpse, he wandered around the cemetery like a zombie and seemed to only have a selective memory set. He couldn't remember what happened to his wife, and his favourite line was "Johnny! What's going on?"

Sean McCann played the role of Vince Ventura. A veteran Canadian actor, he has appeared in over 70 films which included David Cronenberg's Naked Lunch. In addition, he served as Associate Producer for the 1995 film "Desolation Angels". In 1998, Sean and Chris Wiggins were both cast in a Canadian made-for-television movie "Evidence of Blood". They were joined by former Friday the 13th guest stars Bernard Behrens and David Ferry. Sean has often appeared as a police officer or as some other law enforcement agent in his film roles.

Outside of his acting role, Sean McCann is a vocal advocate of Canadian performers' rights and is a current member of ACTRA (Alliance of Cinema, Television and Radio Artists) for the Toronto Performers Council. In a recently published article (January 1999), he wrote the following: "If two performers are working on the same production, reading the same amount of lines, and essentially doing the same work, shouldn't they have the same basic rights ... Canadian actors shouldn't be treated as second-class citizens in their country. ACTRA's negotiating team is proposing that any production ... that engages a non-Canadian performer should have the same standards for ACTRA members as for other performers ... same turn around time equivalent fee schedules and working conditions as their American counterparts. Our members work too hard, are too skilled and are too professional to be treated as second-class citizens ... one of the things we're fighting for in this round of IPA negotiations - equality."

In November 1999, Sean McCann won a Gemini award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Guest Role Dramatic Series: Power Play: Perambulate Me Back to My Habitual Abode. He played the role of Ray Malone, general manager of the Hamilton Steelheads hockey team in the three-part series opener.
