This guide has always tried to offer a unique perspective on Mountain View's history. Since the early 1940s, my family has called Mountain View home. So, this section of the guide isn't just about early pioneers, important dates, and major events...although you can find those here too. It's also not a rosy history that ignores the mistakes of the past.

Mostly, it's about the places and events that have touched the lives of Mountain View residents, with an emphasis on the city my grandparent's and parent's generation remember. So if you ever had a Parisian Burger from Linda's, rooted for the Mountain View High Eagles, saw a movie at the Monte Vista Drive-In, had lunch at the Menu Tree, or shopped at the Old Mill...then hopefully these pages will help you relive some of those memories.

And for those who don't know what the heck any of the things I just mentioned are, you soon will.
