Arthur Q.Bryan

Born:1899,Brooklyn,New York

Died:1959,Hollywood,California

With the honor of playing opposite Mel Blanc as Elmer Fudd (although Mel Blanc would dub his voice in for effect)
Bryan,a regular on the radio version of FIBBER McGEE AND MOLLY and its spinoff THE GREAT GILDERSLEEVE
as well as with Blanc on so many radio shows, and resembling the fat version
of Elmer fudd that appeared for a time during World War
II,and first used, by Tex Avery, using that voice,in
(with apologies-AS IF!-to Robert Service--and Alicia Silverstone as well!)
THE DANGEROUS DAN McFOO.

Bryan could and did play (as witness Chuck Jones's two shorts "A Pest in the House",1946 and "Past
Per-fumeance",1954,both Merrie Melodies,respectively
as a guest and producer) other characters and prboaly did in Friz Freleng's
"Wise Quackers"(1949),as the neighbor next door, but he did
Elmer primarily.

After he died Mel Blanc, Daws Butler ,and Hal Smith did the voice.Possibly
because of his HALLS OF IVY (TV version, and on radio too) show
Bryan was replaced temporarily by Mel as Fudd in SCARLET
PUMPERNICKEL.

Go on to Daws Butler
