US Army-1917..
Young men, prepare to ship out from Herkimer NY, to Ft Dix, NJ. Most are Italian born, of either Sicilian, or Calabrian origins. most spoke very little if any English.I Cant explain WHY!... there an Italian flag...flying in the background?

Quite often, young poorley educated
Italian men would join the army as a
means of obtaining US citizenship.

Brother Against Brother

World War..
Found Italy, allied
with Germany. This
In many cases, put
brothers on opposite
sides. A very sad state
of affairs for a people
who are so triditionaly
Family oriented.
Years later, this would
be repeated with
World War 2.
