My name is Gregory Meyer, and I am honored to share with you my experience with life and with Chung Moo Doe. Over the years I have learned that in order to develop personally and improve my life, I need to set specific goals, both short and long term. In any of my lists of goals, I always put physical conditioning, health and mental development at the top. I want to be active, healthy, and have a sense of self-confidence and inner peace.
I have tried many ways to achieve this: free weights, health club, aerobics, racquetball, speed walking; but I had no success in achieving my fitness goals. At the same time, in my medical practice of 20 years, I was witnessing the sad course of many people’s lives. A large number of my patients reach a time in their lives when they have unlimited free time and financial security, yet they are miserable because of crippling arthritis or neck and back pain. I did not want to end up like many of my patients. Fortunately, one of my patients told me about Chung Moo Doe. At first I was hesitant, but after a private lesson with Assistant Head Instructor Andy Dutcher, I knew I had begun my journey in pursuit of my goal. |

When I began my training, I received great benefits in a very short time. From the age of seven, I had suffered from severe migraine headaches. Being a physician, I have easy access to the latest diagnostic techniques, but my headaches persisted. I was placed on many medicines, many of which had undesirable side effects. Today thanks to my Moo Doe training, I am headache free and off all medication.
I now know that many people have been helped by Chung Moo Doe instructors, some of whom are practicing physicians, for ailments I had previously considered untreatable. I have referred some of my own patients to Chung Moo Doe instructors for help. I once told Assistant Head Instructor Andy that people expect doctors to perform magic, wanting instant cures, but there is no magic in medicine. He stated that there is no magic in Chung Moo Doe either, but Chong Su Nim’s words on the walls of the practice room, such as “Determination” and “Do One’s Best” are the keys to success. Finally I have discovered that I must put myself first, and that my Chung Moo Doe training must be a high priority in my life. If I am not physically and mentally well, I can’t possibly be there for my family. Often I must be selfish and take my time. I know that my family and I will all benefit in the long run from the time I spend practicing. I would like to thank Chong Su Nim “Iron” Kim, National Instructors, Regional Instructors, all other instructors and higher belts who continue to connect me to the proper path. |
