Come join us on our camping adventures!

We love the outdoors. Camping is something we do almost every week-end in the summer. We have plenty of funny and fascinating stories and pictures to share with you. I hope that they bring a smile to your face. Enjoy!

Here we see daddy and his buddy Stephen hanging out at our campsite in French Creek State Park. We love it there. It is full of trails, has two lakes and is real near to Hopewell Furnace. We frequent this park because the campsites are fairly big and secluded compared to other campgrounds we have been to. I must say that it is one of our favorites because of its convenience and the kids love it. We try to go every week-end in the summer time. Our goal is to take them backpacking on the AT but for now they are too young for that kind of adventure.

Stoke that fire daddy!!! Greg is playing with the

fire. He really isn't too good at starting the

fires. I am in charge of that. It makes him

feel manly though to look like he's doing

something to it."Hey hon, take a picture of

me next to the fire!"

He is real cute.

This is mommy (me) and Katie at Hopewell

Furnace. It is beautiful there. Don't you

agree? I love this picture! The scenery is

amazing! Very educational as well. It is

a hop, skip and a jump from French Creek.

The kids look forward to our visit there every

year. Check out the link I have provided for

it below.

My friend Sheldon and I took a trip a few years ago to Virginia. One of the places we stayed at was Sky Meadows State Park. It is beautiful there! The sites are about 3/4 of a mile hike into the campground. There are only about ten sites and they are secluded. The rest of the trip we hiked the AT and found some really great trails and camping spots. These are some of the pictures from our trip. I will never forget the beauty of Virginia as long as I live.

See the cows in the backgroud? On the trail to the campsites you had to walk through a meadow filled with cattle. I'll tell you, if you have never been that close to steer before you don't know what you're missing. As many as there were it was a little uneasy especially when we encountered a long horned steer up ahead blocking our path to the campsite. "Well" Sheldon said, "if you don't bother it, it won't bother you". "Okay"

Have you ever gone camping

and realized when you got

there that you had forgot to

bring the poles for the tent?

Well, that is what Sheldon

has just realized!

Opps!! The poles are in PA.

Have you ever had to do this? Here you see the ingenuity of two frustrated campers without tent poles. Want to hear a funny story about that night? Well here it goes.....I was asleep when all of a sudden something from the outside of the tent was nudging my head and sniffing. Okay I thought, whatever this is will leave if I make some noise. So I coughed and rustled around. Well that was that......or was it? Later that night I awoke again. This time I found myself literally pushed to the other side of the tent up against Sheldon. Something was pushing me from the outside of the tent. Again it was sniffing and grumbling. You see we had no poles or stakes to hold the tent down so whatever this thing was it was big enough to roll me over to the other side. And like that it was gone. The rest of the night was uneventful. To this day I have no idea what it was but I have my suspicions. The park ranger informed me the next day that yes there has been a bear spotted in the area!! Pretty freaky!!
