I'm Glenn S., and I live in Virginia. I am a 46 year old dad, with two
daughters (Misty and Summer), ages 26 and 20. I was a single dad for four
years, but that has changed. On Sunday, February 27, 2000, I married the
girl of my dreams in a traditional "long haired hippie wedding", with our
bare toes in the surf at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. The new "Mrs. Glenn
S." was just too sweet to let go. So I didn't. :-)
I joined the program of Narcotics Anonymous on October 10, 1991; having become
sick and tired of being sick and tired. That turned out to be the best decision
of my life.
Until July 10th, 1997, I served as the Secretary of the H.O.W. Group of Narcotics
Anonymous, which was the original Internet email NA meeting. Im still
a H.O.W. Group member, and I highly recommend it to recovering addicts who
would like to experience a taste of recovery from all over the world. To
join the H.O.W. Group, send an introduction to:
na-how@gnbc.com. And now, there's
a
Internet email meeting
called "Earth Group NA". Click the

I have surfed the Web many times looking for sites about recovery. I have
found a lot of them, but not many in which individuals share their
experience, strength, and hope with other recovering
addicts. This site is my attempt to improve that situation. Therefore, the
background and text formatting on the
home
grown links below have been designed
to make the pages as easy to read as possible. They should download
almost instantly.
I'll continuously add more stuff to
this website. God only knows where this project will lead me...
The following links allow me to share, with my brothers and sisters in
recovery,
the experience, strength, and hope that I have earned in the following
areas.

Here are some neat programs that
I have downloaded, and found to be very useful in keeping up with my recovering
friends:
Juno: Free Internet E-mail Service
For the entire time I served as the H.O.W. Group Secretary, I used JUNO as
my email service. I have sent and received thousands of letters with it,
and it has always proven itself to be very dependable. JUNO gives you a free
Internet address for life. Your address doesn't depend on paying a monthly
bill. You do NOT have to have Internet access
to use it. JUNO just recently also started giving free World Wide Web access,
which seems to work well if you can put up with the "always on top" banner
ad.
ICQ
Using ICQ (I Seek You), you can chat with anyone on the Internet who also
downloads the program, no matter where they are or which ISP they use.
You can also send them files and messages. ICQ will alert you
when your friends log onto the Internet, enabling you to contact them.
The good news today is that there is NO REASON for an addict to use drugs. We could come up with plenty of EXCUSES to use, such as, I lost my job, My mate left me, or The bills are overdue. But using can never make these, nor any of lifes problems, improve. NEVER!!! For addicts and alcoholics, using will ALWAYS make our problems many times worse!!!
It is said that there is an exception to every rule. But for us, there is NO EXCEPTION to this one. ASK ANY MONKEY if there is any reason for an addict to use! I just asked four monkeys. They all gave the same answer...

Just about every day. But I'm not a computer
junkie. I haven't switched addictions. I can quit using my computer
any time I want to. I just don't want to...
And, ya know, I've got three more floppy disks that
I haven't used yet. It would be a shame to waste them, so I'll quit
after I use them...
And I am NOT in denial. Just because
I just used my mortgage payment money to buy my new computer, and spent my
water bill money to buy my Zip drive, that doesn't mean I'm a computer junkie.
It just means that I've got "priorities". The kids have plenty of peanut
butter, and I can get all the water I want from my neighbor's outside faucet
when they're not home. And I ALWAYS pay my electric and phone
bills the day I receive them, because they REALLY ARE necessities...
And I can't afford to go to treatment. That
would cut into the money I'm going to spend on a computer for the kids, so
that I can remove the electric barbed wire fence from around mine.
I can quit ANY day, as long as
I don't have to quit TOday...
