Trails on Oahu
- Mililani in Central Oahu. Arguably the best trail for all types of riding-- singletracks, technical uphills, jeep trails, and great downhills with whoop dee doos (it's also a favorite of motorcyclists). Thirteen mile loop. Nearly an endless trail system so go exploring if you have the time!
"Widowmaker"
Peacock flats (not! it's really, really steep) in Northwest Oahu: Tough, challenging trail with an initial climb of 3 miles on a paved road, leading to a rollercoaster network of jeep trails. Thirteen mile loop from Mokuleia Beach Park. Enjoy the ocean views below and watch the glider planes up above.
Maunawili Trail in the lush Windward (East) side. Not too hilly, not too flat but just right. Cliffside doubletrack riding with gorgeous panoramic views the entire 11 miles (one way). Look out for hikers!
Tantalus in downtown Honolulu. (not! bikes are now banned). The technical downhill riding was excellent when it was open to mountain bikes.
Kuliouou, east of Honolulu in Hawaii Kai. Switchbacks galore and a wickedly fast and technical downhill. About 4 miles to the top.
Pupukea on the North Shore. Hillclimbing and jeep trails leading to a motorcycle (and bicycle) playground. Stop by D'Amicos for the best pizza on Oahu before the leisurely ride back along the beaches on the North Shore. Seventeen-mile loop.
Manana Trail on the top of Pacific Palisades in Central Oahu. Rutty and rooty technical riding with rolling hills. Three and a half miles one way.
Kaena point in Northwest Oahu. Flat, wide trail fronting the ocean. Excellent for beginners. Ten miles one way.
...and numerous private property trails (you didn't hear it from me).
