Computers

I must say that I love to play around on computers. I am presently going to school to get an Associates Degree in Computer Science at Saddleback College. Most of what I know about computers I have learned on my own and already know quite a bit, receiving my first computer programing Sweepstakes Trophy at the Orange County Fair back when I was in the 4th grade. One of the many billets I held in the Marine Corps was to help maintain our computers, our LAN system, and troubleshoot problems within our section. While I was there, I also wrote a few marcos which helped simplify day-to-day operations and hopefully saved you - the taxpayer - some of those hard earned Dollar$. Recently I taught myself HTML and have been slowly but surly increasing the complexity of this homepage rightfully dubbed "Griffon's Playground." I have even made a few animated GIFs a couple of which you can see below (the one for BPS Software in particular has been posted to their web site). The next thing I wish to learn is Java…then we can really start to have some fun! One of the people helping me in my pursuit of computer knowledge is Perry "RobDog" Robinson. You may want to check out his page…not only does he have his own chat room there, but he has now started to add a series of online games to play!!

Music/Dancing

I love all sorts of music but I'd have to say that Alternative is my favorite. What's Alternative music? Well I guess you have to say it is everything that wouldn't have a chance in hell being played on most radio stations, yet a song or two always manages to make it to "main-stream" America…at which point they are ridiculed as sell-outs (hehehe…oh well that's the way it goes). For those local to the Los Angeles and Orange County areas, just know that my dial doesn't leave KROQ or Y-107 very often. I do, however, listen to Country as well. I know, I know…the word country has a bad flavor for some, but have you every seen the beautiful ladies that go to country bars and clubs? Trust me…you'll change your tune the same way that I did (hehehe). I am no Fred Astaire, but I can hold my own on the dance floor. Besides cutting a rug with the local house band at Casey's and Off Campus Pub, I've also been known to do the following moves at the Cowboy Boogie and Midnight Rodeo: Two-Step, Cowboy Cha-Cha, Country Waltz, and the West Coast Swing. Don't worry I don't do any of those line dances…they just aren't my style. Hey this just wouldn't be complete without me putting in a good word for Classical music as well. I'm not to much into the modern classical stuff but the oldies are definitely goodies.

The Marine Corps

I signed up for the service in June of 1992 and shipped out to boot camp – MCRD San Diego, CA – the following year in June of 1993, only three days after graduating high school. After doing all the basic training in boot camp and MCT, I shipped out for training as a Basic Automotive Mechanic – MCSSS Camp Johnson, NC. In school I managed to keep a high class rating, allowing me to continue into the advanced course. I graduated at the top of my class as a 3522 in June of 1994, earning a meritorious promotion. After graduating schooling, I shipped back out to the west coast to Camp Pendleton, CA. There I finished my last three years of my active tour with 1st Maintenance Battalion, 1st FSSG. When did I go overseas?? Well…NEVER (hehehe). I did, however, participate in several operations with CSSDs while I was stationed there. To include CAX, WTI, and DesFireX. My End of Active Service was in June of 1997. I have since been transferred to the Inactive Ready Reserve, where I am currently serving out the end of my obligated service until June of 2000.
