LAVENDER WANDS

MATERIALS NEEDED:

Scissors, 13, 15, 17, or 19 Lavender flowers with stems 10 to 15 inches long. Rubber band or string. 4 Feet of 1/4 inch wide satin ribbon or raffia.

INSTRUCTIONS:


1. Pick fresh lavender flowers stems and strip off the leaves.

2. Gather an odd number of stems together with the flowers even, secure the stems together, just below the flowers. Secure with a rubber band, string or raffia.

3. At this point I usually let the stems rest to become wilted. Gently bend the stems down one at a time, they should look like the spokes of an umbrella.

4. Tuck the ends of the ribbon in among the flowers. Start to weave over and under the stems working down until the flowers are enclosed.

5. Wrap the remaining ribbon in a spiral down the stem, and secure with a bow. Trim the stems evenly at the base. Secure the ends of the stems with a rubber band until dry. Then remove the rubber band.
