PA Adoption Reunion Registry

Legacy of An Adopted Child

"In all of us there is a hunger, marrow deep to know our heritage... Without this enriching knowledge, there is a hollow yearning. No matter what our attainments in life, there is still a vacuum, an emptiness and the most disquieting loneliness....." Alex Haley

PA Adoption Connection Pittsburgh recognizes adoption as a life long process. Each member of the adoption triad has unique issues and concerns throughout their lives. We offer support to birthparents who never forget the children they surrendered; to adoptees who always wonder about their origins and why they were separated from their birth families and to adoptive parents who deserve to have their questions and fears addressed honestly. Membership includes a quarterly newsletter in which we share search and contact ideas, articles, poems and feelings. Your submission is welcome. We offer a computerized data base. When a registration forms is received, the information is entered into the data base and stays there until a match is made or we are asked to remove the information. Adoptees must be 18 years of age to register.

PAC's ON LINE SEARCH GROUP
You are invited to join us at PAC’s On-Line Search and Support Group. This is a PRIVATE YAHOO Group for members of PA Adoption Connection, Pittsburgh, Butler and Erie.  This does not replace our regular monthly support group meetings but is an alternative to support and search advice in between regularly scheduled meetings and for members who live out of town and cannot attend our meetings.  Discussing some of the issues surrounding the search, the contact, the reunion and after are important prerequisites to a search.

It’s not easy to discuss adoption related issues with the non-adopted but here in our e-group you can be assured that you have a safe place to ask your questions, share your feelings or just blow off steam.  You can tell us about your adoption experience, share your search and reunion story and share your frustrations.
If you are a PAC member and want to join us, please send an email to:

LEGACY OF AN ADOPTED CHILD
Once there were two women
Who never knew each other
One you do not remember
The other you call mother
Two different lives,
shaped to make yours one.
One became your guiding star
The other became your sun
The first gave your life
And the second taught you to live in it.
The first gave you a need for love
And the second was there to give it.
One gave you a nationality
The other gave you a name.
One gave you the seed on talent
The other gave you an aim
One gave you emotions
The other calmed your fears.
One saw your first sweet smile
The other dried your tears.
One gave you up
It was all that she could do
The other prayed for a child
And God led her straight to you.
And now you ask me through your tears
The age old question through the years
heredity or environment which are you
the product of?
Neither, my darling, Neither
just two different kinds of love.
