Sponsored by The HEARTLAND OF GEORGIA ROMANCE WRITERS Macon, GA Kimberly Johns, Contest Coordinator PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED IN TWO CATEGORIES: CONTEMPORARY AND HISTORICAL NOTE: All entries will be accepted. Paranormal or Inspirationals set mainly in Contempory setting will be included in Contemporary Category. Time Travels set mainly in Historical setting will be included in Historical Category. 1ST PLACE: $50 AND CERTIFICATE 2ND PLACE: $25 AND CERTIFICATE 3RD PLACE THROUGH 5TH: CERTIFICATE DEADLINE: POSTMARKED BY DECEMBER 31, 2002 Fee: $20.00/entry Open to RWA members unpublished in book-length fiction. Entries must represent the authors own, original and unpublished, book-length manuscript. All entries must conform to standard manuscript format. A header with the title of the work and page number should appear on every page. The AUTHORS NAME SHOULD NOT APPEAR anywhere on the manuscript. Submit three copies of your first chapter and/or prologue not to exceed twenty (20) pages, a completed entry form, signed contestant agreement form and your check or money order for the $20.00 entry fee, made payable to: Heartland of Georgia Romance Writers, Inc. or HGRW.. On a Separate title page include: Your name, your address, your phone number w/area code, email address (if applicable), title, approx. word count, and category of your novel. Enclose a SASE large enough and with sufficient postage for the return of your manuscript and score sheets. No manuscript will be returned without a SASE. Please make sure your envelope is large enough to accomodate all returned entries and score sheets. First Round Judges: Experienced critiquers/and or published authors. Top ten from each category will advance to second Round. Second Round Judges: Multi-published authors Top five from each category will advance to final round. Final Round Judges: Editors or Agents Our final round judges for this year's contest will be: Contemporary: Susan Pezzack of Harlequin Books Historical: Sandra Chastain of Belle Books You may enter as often as you like, however, each entry must be submitted in a separate envelope with a separate entry form, SASE for its return and a check or money order to cover the entry fee of all submissions. Failure to meet contest requirements as set down in these rules will result in disqualification of your entry. Entry fees will not be returned on disqualified manuscripts. By signing the application and agreement form, I understand that I am releasing from all liability whatsoever Heartland of Georgia Romance Writers, Inc., its directors officers, judges, agents, representatives and employees for any claim arising out of my submission. I hereby waive any right I may have to bring a lawsuit or other legal action against any of the above-mentioned persons and understand that notwithstanding the limitation above, if I bring a lawsuit or other legal action, with respect to my submission then my recovery will be limited to a return of my entry fee.
