PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED IN TWO CATEGORIES:
HISTORICAL AND CONTEMPORARY
1ST PLACE $50 AND A CERTIFICATE
2ND PLACE $25 AND A CERTIFICATE
3RD PLACE THROUGH 5TH A CERTIFICATE
DEADLINE: POSTMARKED BY DECEMBER 31, 2002
Fee: $20.00/entry

1. Open to RWA members unpublished in book-length fiction.
2. Entries must represent the author's own original and unpublished, book-length manuscript.
3. All entries must conform to standard manuscript format. A header with the title of the work and page number should appear on every page. The AUTHOR'S NAME SHOULD NOT APPEAR anywhere on the manuscript.
4. Submit three copies of your first chapter and/or prologue not to exceed twenty (20) pages, a completed entry form, a signed agreement form and your check or money order for the $20.00 entry fee, made payable to Heartland of Georgia Romance Writers, Inc. or HGRW. NO synopsis, please!
5. On a Separate title page include: Your name, your address, your phone number w/area code, the title, approx. word count, and category of your novel.
6. Enclose a SASE large enough and with sufficient postage for the return of your manuscript and score sheets. No manuscript will be returned without a SASE. Please make sure your envelope is large enough to accomodate all returned entries and score sheets.
7. Entries will be judged by experienced critiquers and/or published authors for the first round. Second round will be judged by multi-published authors with the top five in each of the two categories to be read by an editor.
8. You may enter as often as you like, however, each entry must be submitted in a separate envelope with a separate entry form, SASE for its return and a check or money order to cover the entry fee of all submissions.
9. Failure to meet contest requirements as set down in these rules will result in disqualification of your entry. Entry fees will not be returned on disqualified manuscripts.
10. By signing the application, I understand that I am releasing from all liability whatsoever Heartland of Georgia Romance Writers, Inc., its directors, officers, judges, agents, representatives and employees for any claim arising out of my submission. I hereby waive any right I may have to bring a lawsuit or other legal action against any of the above-mentioned persons and understand that notwithstanding the limitation above, if I bring a lawsuit or other legal action, with respect to my submission then my recovery will be limited to a return of my entry fee.
