Along the back wall, you can see the walkway, and the lower benchwork where the lower level will not be overlapped by the upper levels. Note that all the visible parts of the benchwork is being constructed with oak, and the support pillars were made with three pieces held together with biscuits along the edge. While this was done primarily for decorative reasons, they are also very solid.
Here is a wide angle view of the room. The control panel desk is just out of view at the left edge. There are no support crossbars for the upper levels yet, as that will wait until the lowest level has been completely laid with plywood, roadbed, and track. The top of the support pillars will be the height of the main level, 48" off the floor.
This shows the control desk in the corner. The desk is made of oak plywood to match the layout benchwork.
