Alice Hayden, Kite Flyer, Kite Maker, Pin Collector and Photographer

In 1998, I compete with stunt kites, both as part of a 2-person Pairs (Ms. Matched) and as a member of a 3-person team. Our team (W.A.T.T.). Ms. Matched is comprised of Deborah Heid and myself. Deb and I fly Spectre Sport Reactor Series kites and the Aerodrone Speed Limit. Team W.A.T.T. was comprised of Marty Aguirre, Mark Virgilio (my husband) and myself. We compete with AMIs (by AirMaster) both standard and vented.

Team W.A.T.T. finished 1st place in Experienced Team Precision and 2nd place Ballet in the North East Region and in the Eastern League, flying our Air Masters during the 97/98 season. At the AKA Grand Nationals, Team W.A.T.T. took 1st place in Experienced Team
Precision and 2nd in Ballet. Now to perfect the Ms. Matched's new routines during the Winter hiatus.

I also do single line kites. I make kites, this is an ever continuing odyssey of discovery.

Spectre of Cantebury is 1st painted ripstop kite. She is a 5' tall Eddy/Rokakku. OK, maybe I spent too much time wandering the catecombs at Cantebury Cathedral last April, but I was inspired. I built Spectre of Cantebury for the Maryland International Kite Festival KITE FACES kite making contest. Didn't win, but she flys nice and is quite manueverable. I used silk dyes on rip-stop nylon.

Spectre Of Cantebury flies at MASKC in Ocean City, Maryland.

Mark blames David Gomberg, Kite Trip Coordinator & Pinhead Extrodinair, entirely for my burgeoning kite pin collection.
