Well this was just interesting, to say the least.
I left for Denver the day after the Kansas City show. At this time, I was
NOT used to all of this yet. I was a nervous wreck by the time I got to the
airport. I was incredibly scared and worried, yet just DAMN excited to be
seeing Tori again. It was really weird. Honestly, I almost didn't go. But
after a pep-talk from my mom and a comforting breakfast of bagels and orange
juice, I boarded the plane with _just_ enough confidence and self-security
to swallow down for a 2 hour flight.
When I got to Denver, my friend Liz was there to meet me at the airport. I was really excited to meet her because we had been talking on AOL for almost two years and it was wonderful to finally get to meet her. I was to be staying with her and her family during my time in Denver. It was so nice of her to open her home up to me, almost a complete stranger. I don't think I'll ever be able to thank her enough for that. :)
So, a few hours after I got there, Liz and I went to go see our friend Kenna. I had been talking to Kenna on AOL for about a year and a half also, so it was wonderful to be meeting her as well. Kenna is such an awesome person! She was everything I expected and more!! Kenna, Liz, and I hung out that night, getting coffee and watching really bad MTV shows. It was a lot of fun. :)
The next day, we got a phone call from Dor saying that her, Jason, Christ, David, and Ursula had made it into Denver! Wooo!!! I hadn't met Jason, Christ, or David yet and I was really excited to, since I had been talking to them on AOL for forever. I didn't know Ursula, but I was happy to meet her as well. Before we went over there, Liz took me to visit my brother, who lives about 35 min from her, and I had a nice visit over there. We came back and then went to Kenna's where I found a sleeping Dorothy and Jason, Christ, David, Ursula, and Kenna all in Kenna's room. Not soon after, we decided to go to Perkins because all the people who went to Boulder wanted to go there for sentimental reason, I guess. After that, we all went to the Macky and we roamed that building for a bit. It was nice to see the place and stuff, but it obviously didn't effect me like it did some of the others. Oh well, it was still exciting to be there and to watch everyone reminice. We went back to Kenna's after that and played some 'Scatagories' and then Liz and I went home.
The next day (the day before the show), I woke up feeling with a stuffy nose.
I figured it was just allergies, so I shrugged it off. Liz went to school
and I played on the computer all day. When she got back, we went to Kenna's
again and hung out. I guess some people wanted to camp out that night at
Red Rocks in order to get good GA seats. I didn't really care to, because
Liz and I had reserved, but I (eventually) thought it would be kind of fun.
So, we decided to go to Walmart to get some supplies.
As the evening went on, I started feeling sicker and sicker. Just as a
precaution, I picked up some cold medicine at Walmart. Just in case.
After Walmart, we all wanted to go CD shopping, so we went to some local
independent stores close to where Kenna and Liz live. Other than the 'Cornflake
Girl' cassette single, I didn't find much there. So....we were all getting
hungry not soon after. Pizza sounded good to some of us, while other's wanted
Wendy's. We decided to go back to Kenna's and order pizza. Some went to Wendy's,
though, and got their dinners there. By the time this was happening, I was
a sick mess. My head hurt, I felt feverish, and my throat was killing me.
oh god.....
I took some of my medicine to see if it would help me feel better. It didn't
do much, but I got a good buzz off of it. hahahahahaa
I was having second thoughts about camping, but I was feeling a little better
for a little while, so I asked Liz if she could take me back to her house
so I could put on some clothes that were appropriate for the outdoors. She
took me and then we came back. In the end, I felt so crappy, that I decided
not to go. I was disappointed, but I knew that staying outside all night
would have probably killed me. Liz and I went home.
The next day, I woke up to feeling like absolute ass and Dor called to ask me if I wanted her to come pick me up so I could go to the meet and greet. I didn't feel like doing anything but sleeping, so I said 'no'. (saying 'no' to a meet and greet? yeah, i was pretty damn sick) I went back to bed and chilled out until Liz got back from school. We eventually left for the concert, picking up Liz's friend on the way. When we got there, I was totally blown away. Red Rocks is absolutely GORGEOUS. Unfortunately, I was unable to enjoy the hike up the mountain to the actual venue, tho. I thought I was going to die. On the way up there, I saw Caton sitting on the railing and talking to some girl. Ha. Figures.
Liz and I found our seats and not soon after that, The Devlins started playing. I was sooooo getting to enjoy them by this time. I was becoming a full-fledged fan.
And they left and it was interemission then............you know. ;)

The show was *tight*. The setlist wasn't anything out of the ordinary, but many of us agreed that the actual versions of the songs were really really good.
After waiting in traffic for 90 years, we finally made it out of Red Rocks. Liz dropped her friend off at her house and then we went straight home. I crawled into bed and passed out. I was sooooooooo exhausted.
The next day, I packed my stuff up and said 'goodbye' to Liz and thanked her for everything. Back to Kansas City I went to kill about 2 weeks worth of time until my trip to California. Woo!!!
