MOVIE REVIEW-- ELVIRA: MISTRESS OF THE DARK

This is a review of Elvira's hit movie "Elvira: Mistress of the Dark".
This is really a funny and outragerous movie. I will begin by giving a
brief summary of the movie.
The movie begins with Elvira hosting a television show in which she
presents old B-Movie horror flicks. It is clear that Elvira does not
enjoy her job. Elvira then gets upset with the new executive of the
station and quits her job. Just when everything seems to be going
terrible for our heroine, Elvira receives a notice that she must go to
the town of Fallwell, Massachuttes to collect her recently deceased
aunt's inheritance. Elvira is thrilled by this news. Elvira then hops
into her classic Macabre Mobile and goes cross country to Fallwell. When
Elvira arrives at Fallwell it is very clear that she does not fit in.
Fallwell is a very uptight town and most people do not want Elvira
there. Elvira goes to the law office to pick up her inheritance but is
greatly dissappointed to find out that all she inherited was a dog, an
old "recipe" book, and her aunt's run down house. Elvira then discovers
that she also has an uncle in the same town. What she does not know is
that he is a 300 year old warlock. Elvira's uncle know that the recipe
book is a powerful spell book which gives its possessor great power.
Elvira then runs into another enemy, Chastity Pariah. Chastity is the
president of the Fallwell Morality Club and she wants Elvira out of town
as soon as possible. Elvira then wips up a casserole from the "recipe"
book and drops it off and the Morality Day Picnic. It turns out that the
casserole is a love potion which makes everyone do some pretty crazy
things. Furious with what has happened, Chastity and the warlock team up
and arrest Elvira for witchcraft. Elvira is then almost burned at the
stake but is saved by her magical dog that she inherited. Elvira then
fights a magical duel with her warlock uncle and wins but burns the
house down in the process. After she destroys the warlock, Elvira is
informed that she is the only living relative of his and the she must
collect his inheritance. This money helps Elvira get her dream of
performing in Las Vegas for a wonderful grand finale to a wonderful
movie.
There are many talented actors who lend their talents to "Elvira:
Mistress of the Dark". First and foremost there is Cassandra Peterson
who is the Mistress herself in this zany movie. Also, W. Morgan Shepherd
plays the warlock uncle. And last but not least, Edie McClurg does a
wonderful job portraying the wicked Chastity Pariah.
This is a wonderful movie with great characters, crazy dialogue, and a
great plot. I give this a perfect score. 5 stars
