South of the Border (WAY SOUTH)
From Our HET Friends Down Under
Last Modified on:  12/01/2004

This page is dedicated to the memory of Julie Hickling.
Her love for Kevin, her Mother, their '37 Huddy, her animals,
and their property near Taree is a great message for all of us.
So long Julie, we will miss you.

1949 Super Six

1949 Super Six
MRS. Haxby's '49 Super Six
With only 73k orginal miles and just a paint job and
some chrome polishing, she is used for all the family
outings as there is room for family and friends.

Phil Haxby's 1934 Terraplane

1934 Terraplane
Rebuilt using an "American" steel body. Phil claims
this resulted in a lot fewer squeaks and rattles as
the Australian bodies used a lot more wood. Now
he just has fun with his pride and joy as a rally car.

When you start out with this...

And, you can turn it into this...

1934 Terraplane
There is reason to be proud.
Owner: Frank Wegrzyiak in Brisbane.
It was a ground up restoration.
Frank did most of the work himself.

1949 Convertible

1949 Hudson
Colin Hook's '49 was owned by "Gelegnite" Jack
Murray a local rally "hero" back in the 50"s. He
never used it much and eventually sold it to his mate
Carl Atkinson, who took it to Darwin, NT. Carl
moved to the Gold Coast. Colin bought it from
Carl's widow around 1983 and has driven it ever
since. It has become a part of his family and he
has had many great nights driving it along the
beachfront here, roof down of course!

Gary Knight's 1921 Essex 4 Tourer. This was a
20 year restoration and Gary did all the work
himself including the mechanics, paint, panel
works and trimming. Found in 1970 it was cut
into a ute and in bad condition with rust.

it won't take the 20 years that the '21 took.
Good Luck Gary!

a half cab and converted to an ambulance &
eventually became a farm vehicle.

Harry bought it in '81 for $100 (Aus).
He has spent the last 15 years on restoration.
Still needs wiring and headlights.

1934 Commercial
A view of Harry's Terraplane that many
non-Hudson owners are very familiar with!
Harry's e-mail is: harrymcn@hotmail.com  if
you would like to discuss his '34 Commerical T.

Thanks for the view from Down Under

(Will those guys ever learn to drive on the "right" side of the road?)
