| Length: | 33 km (approximately) |
| Notes: | The portion of SH-583 within the limits of the Town of Hearst were downloaded onto the local authorities in January 1998, thus creating a "disconnected" SH-583. This southern section is a "detached" highway, in the sense that it no longer connects with any portion of the provincial highway system. It is unclear whether the Town of Hearst has retained the SH-583 shields within their jurisdiction. |
| Prior to downloading, the formerly complete routing of SH-583 was 50km in length. |
|

This northern section is a "detached" highway, in the sense that it no longer connects with any portion of the provincial highway system. It is unclear whether the Town of Hearst has retained the SH-583 shields within their jurisdiction. |

|
 | Southern Terminus: | North limit of the municipality of Greenstone, north of Geraldton |
| Northern Terminus: | Nakina |

| Notes: | All of SH-584 within the limits of the southern section of the municipality of Greenstone, which comprises the communities of Longlac, Geraldton, Jellicoe, Beardmore, Orient Bay and others, was turned back to local control in January of 1998. SH-584 formerly began at MacLeod Provincial Park south of Geraldton, ran north through that community on its way toward Nakina, which, ironically is contained within the municipality of Greenstone as a disconnected portion. SH-584 in this discontiguous portion of Greenstone (the Nakina area) was retained in the provincial highway system. |

| Notes: | SH-599 is the longest Secondary Highway in Ontario, beating out the second-longest, SH-527, by 50km. This route is also the sixth longest provincial highway in the entire system, being beat out by such notibles as Hwy 401, Hwy 17, and Hwy 11! |
| | This highway began, oddly enough, as a route connecting the community of Savant Lake on the Canadian National Railway with the community of Central Patricia, making it notible that it was a 170km highway that only connected with a railway station! After many years, SH-599 eas pushed southward to connect up with Hwy 17/TCH, therefore connecting it with the rest of the provincial highway system. Later, connections with SH-516 and SH-642 were also completed. |
| | Beginning in 1966, TH-808 continued north from SH-599's northern terminus at Central Patricia, extending northerly for 59 km through the the most remote portions of Northern Ontario, before terminating in the wilderness. TH-808 was, however, removed as a tertiary highway in c.1984 and the route is no longer provincially-maintained. |
|
 | Western Terminus: | Hwy 11 in Rainy River |
| Eastern Terminus: | Jct Hwy 71/TCH & SH-615 east of Black Hawk |
| Length: | 89 km |
| Notes: | While classified here as an "east-west" highway, SH-600 actually runs north-south for its first 25km, before turning east-west for approximately 30km, then stair-steps in a generally southeastern direction for 30km to its eastern terminus. |
| | |
|
 | Western Terminus: | Hwy 17/TCH at Dryden |
| Eastern Terminus: | Hwy 17/TCH, 5km east of Dryden |
| Length: | 25 km |
| Notes: | SH-601 is truly a "loop" route: While the highway is 25km in length, its termini lie on the same highway only five kilometres apart! |
| | One of this highway's primary purposes seems to be to provide access to Dryden's airport. |
|
 | Western Terminus: | Hwy 11/TCH at Emo |
| Eastern Terminus: | Hwy 11/TCH, 12 km west of Fort Frances |
| Length: | 48 km |
