Thank you for inquiring about one of our programs for Clinical Hypnosis. Please allow me to tell you a little about what we do. Hypnosis has been recognized by the American Medical Association since 1957 as a potent weapon in the treatment of many problems once deemed "untreatable" by traditional psychotherapy.
Although the word hypnosis is derived from the Greek word for sleep, during a hypnotic state, you are always awake, alert and aware of what is around you. You can hear, think, move and even talk while in a hypnotic state.
Fully 95% of the population can be hypnotized, and here, at The Institute for Clinical Hypnosis, every client is tested for a response, and if you do not repond to the hypnosis there is NO CHARGE FOR THE SESSION.
While in Hypnosis, you cannot be made to do anything you do not want to do. In fact, you cannot even be hypnotized against you will. You are always in control of your mind and aware of what is going on around you.
Induction into the hypnotic state is not a complicated act. Many compare it to deep relaxation. Gadgetry like swinging watches and flickering candles are usually only seen in old movies.
Contrary to what many assume, the most readily hypnotized people are neither weak-willed nor of limited intelligence. Rather, they are bright, imaginative people, with normal powers of concentration, who can become deeply focused on a specific, beneficial goal.
Most problems, like Smoking Cessation and Weight Control can be addressed in a single session taking about two hours. Even a lifelong crippling phobia can be elininated in as few as 3 to 5 sessions of 45 minutes each.

The Smoking Cessation Program

In a paper presented to the International Conference on Smoking Cessation, Dr Jerome L Schwartz, Health Care Specialist of the California Department of Health, presented the results of over 160 Smoking Cessation Programs. The methods investigated included Hypnosis, Medications, Individual psychotherapy, Group counseling, and cold turkey techniques. "...FROM THE PUBLISHED RESULTS, IT APPEARS THAT THE HIGHEST SUCCESS RATE WAS ACCOMPLISHED BY HYPNOSIS." At the Institute for Clinical Hypnosis we have pushed that envelope even further. A study completed at Brooklyn College showed the Quit Rate of those who attended our program was almost 80%. Even after 18 months, the success rate remained at almost 70% !!!
