This downloadable plug-in is being distributed without charge as a demonstration of the power of the image processing capabilities provided in The Image Processing Tool Kit and Fovea Pro software packages. Adaptive Equalization is one of the 150+ functions for image processing and measurement that those sets of plug-ins offer, along with an extensive tutorial and example images.
You may download the Macintosh (622 KB stuffit file) or Windows (620 KB zip file) version of the plug-in, along with an Acrobat (pdf) file that explains its principles of operation, installation and use and shows several examples. The plug-in can be used with Adobe Photoshop for both 8 bit per channel and 16 bit per channel grayscale and RGB color images, and with many other Photoshop-compatible programs for 8 bit per channel images.
