本期：
二 月 份 是 一 个 特 别 的 月 份 。
在 这 个 月 ， 我 们 有 很 多 节 日 ， 比 如 农 历 春 节 啦 ，
情 人 节 啦 ， 总 统 生 日 啦 ， 而 且 今 年 是 闰 年 ， 每
四 年 才 有 一 次 哦 ！ 大 家 大 概 不 知 道 ， 二 月 二 十
九 日 ， 是 一 个 求 婚 日 ， 在 这 一 天 ， 如 果 是 一
个 女 孩 子 ， 有 男 孩 对 说 ： 「 嫁 给 我 好 吗 ？ 」
千 万不 可 以 说 “ 不 ” 哦 ！ 所 以 ， 如 果 不想
嫁 人 ， 这 一 天 就 不 要 跟 男 孩 子 单 独 相 处 ， 否 则
将 来 的 爱 情 运 就 不 好 啦 ！
在 这 一 期 我 们 带 给 您 更 多 的 版 面 和 内 容 ， 因
为 越 来 越 多 的 中 学 生 参 加 到 我 们 的 报 纸 面 ，

1. 2月 8日 ， 全 世 界 的 网 路 爱 好 者 同 时 在
国 际 网 路 上 发 表 了 24小 时 的 作 品 ， 成 为 有 史
以 来 一 件 盛 事 。 我 们 的网 上 电 子 报 「 浪 漫 年 华 」
也 参 加 了 这 一 活 动 。
2. 春 节 期 间 ，2月 19日 有 一 个 全 球 华 人 大 拜

4. 2月 16日 ， 在 荷 雷 斯 曼 初 中 举 办 了 一 场 中 文
电 脑 的 展 示 会 ， 三 藩 市 学 区 的 老 师 们很 有 兴 趣 地
参 观 了 苹 果 公 司 的 中 文 电 脑 语 音 输 入 系 统 。 有
兴 趣 了 解 这 套 语 音 系 统在 我 们 这 儿 使 用 的 情 形 的 ，
可 以 寄 电 子 邮 件 向 我 们 询 问 。
5. 因 为 我 们 参 加 了 LMC200 计 划 ， 我们 收 到 了 IBM
公 司 捐 给 我 们 的 三 IBM电 脑 ，我们 会用 这 些 电 脑 来
更 新 我 们 的 流 通 计 划 建 立 线 上 目 录 。 在 PILGRIM
先 生 的 帮 助 下 ，我 们 会 使 这 些 电 脑 跟 学 校的 其 它
电 脑 联 接 起 来 ， 使 学 生 和 教 工 能 更 方 便 地 使 用我
们图 书 馆 的 资 讯 。

This month's theme is going to be about Lunar New Year and
Valentine.
本 月 的 主 题 是 新 年 和 情 人 节 。
To me, Lunar New Year is when I get red envolope from
people who are married. Families go to visit relatives and kids
go to play. However, Lunar New Year has more meanings and more
activities! Check out our New Year special section!

接 过 红 包 。 家 庭 去 拜 年 ， 孩 子 们 去 玩 。 然 而 ，

For Valentine it happens on February 14. Valentine
is a very romantic day for people who are in love. There will
be a lot of hearts and flowers that is red around the place
where you celebrate it. That's all I'm going to tell you about
Valentine, but if you want to read more about these two subject,
then check out the News section. Also, do you know the Chinese
Valentine's day? It happens on the 15th day of the Lunar New Year.

Valentine's Day
This year, Valentine's day is on Wednesday,
February 14. Valentine is a day when two people in
love get together for a romantic day or night. Men
usually would give cards with red heart, red rose
and chocolate in heart shape boxes to ladies.
Valentine's color is red.
今 年 的 情 人 节 是2月 14日 。 情 人 节 是
相 爱 的 两 个 人 在 一 起 度 过 一 个 浪 漫 的 白
天 或 夜 晚 。 男 士 们 通 常 会 送 有 红 心 的 贺 卡 ，
红 玫 瑰 ， 或 心 形 的 盒 子 给 女 士 们 。
At Horace Mann Middle School, there is a
Valentine dance. There are also candy grams, candy roses,
and real roses for sell. Many students go dancing and
take artistic pictures with their boyfriends or girlfriends.
Many people send gifts to their love ones. We all think
this is a very fun and romantic day.
在 贺 雷 斯 曼 初 中 ， 我 们 有 情 人 节 舞 会 ，
还 有 糖 简 ， 糖 玫 瑰 和 真 玫 瑰 卖 。 很 多 学 生 跟

知 识 分 析 音 乐 ， 然 後 把 歌 曲 输 入 电 脑 表 演 。

农历新年

农历新年是中国人的传统节日。人们见面都会说声 恭 喜 恭
喜 发 财， 万 事 如 意 ， 新 年 快 乐 ， 身 壮 力 健 ， 或
出 入 平 安 的 吉 祥 语。 新 年 是 在 农 历 初 一 。 初 一
就 是 新 年 。 他 们 还 叫 新 年「 春节 」 ， 因 为 是 春
天 来 到 了 ， 这 是 春 天 的 第 一 日 ， 是 一 个 新的 开
始 。 新 年 那 一 天 ， 大 家 都 会 穿 些 新 衣 服 和 新
鞋 子 ， 因 为新 的 衣 服 会 带 来 好 运 。 家 会 置
一 下 ， 像 摆 些 桃 花 ， 糖 果， 和 贴 上 吉 祥 语 在 墙
上 和 在 门 外 或 门 口 。 为 什 麽 要 这 样 做呢 ？ 因 为
会 有 很 多 客 人 来 拜 年 。 拜 年 是 一 种 礼 貌 。 孩
子 最喜 欢 是 收 到 红 封 包 。 红 封 包 面 有 些 钱 ，

The Two Red Strips
春 联
Long time ago, there lived a group of villagers.
They lived in China and was the famous happy villagers in
the whole country. Then at December 31st, everybody in
the village was cleaning up their house, getting Lunar
New Year. The mother in the house made a wonderful dinner
and the father in the house ordered the children to do
this, to do that, to help out, so they can eat dinner as
soon as they are finish cleaning the house.
Everybody was happy when they were cleaning up,
but suddenly there was a roared sound like a beast calling
out loud. Everybody in the village stopped doing what
they were doing and gathered outside of their house
in the middle of the village. Then came a big, gigantic
beast walking like a robot toward the village. People
were screaming like wild as if they saw ghosts but no,
they saw a BEAST! The brown, furry beast had his mouth
opened so wild that everybody knew what he was up to.
Then the people and the beast were staring at each other
silently when the beast stepped in the village and they
could even hear the wind blowing.
Then by a lightening flashed, everybody shouted and
ran immediately home and locked their two sided door.
The beast first didn't knew what had happened, so he stared
at the people while they were running home. Then suddenly
nobody was left, except the beast. By a loud roared again,
the beast felt hungry and walked toward a house. As the
beast walked toward a house, he was trying to eat the
people, and he realized that there was a young, handsome
male holding two long, strips of paper standing in back
of him.
When the beast saw that the male was holding two
strips of paper in his hand, the beast was mad, so he
roared. The male wasn't afraid of the beast, but he
instead pushed his own hands that were holding the two
strips of red paper toward the beast. Then the beast
stopped walking and stared at the papers, but the beast
could hardly see the male, so the beast walked forward
one step. As the beast moved forward, the paper created
a strong, powerful lightening that hit the beast.
Then the beast was forced to moved back by the paper and
he got hurt on his arm. The beast was afraid, so he ran
away from the village and never returned, because he wanted
to avoid what had happened.
From this day on, the villagers always hung two long,
strips of paper that had Chinese words on it which meant
good luck. They hung it in front of their two sided door
and that is the tradition of the early ancient Chinese people.
Lunar New Year
过 年了
Lunar New Year is a very special holiday that
the Chinese people always celebrate.
Everybody that is in that family gets together
and have a very big feast. We also wear new clothes and
shoes, get hair cuts before Lunar New Year Eve.
One thing I like is that every children gets red
envelopes with money inside. Wearing new clothes and shoes
represent getting a new start for a new year. For people
to get their hair cut before the Lunar New Year Eve also
represents to forget about the old and to start all over,
and it also represents getting good luck.
For my whole family this holiday means a start of
a new year and we are always happy when this day arrives,
especially the children. We celebrates by having a
fabulous dinner on Lunar New Year Eve with every single
member of our family. On Lunar New Year, we don't show
or use these things: broom, because we believe that it will
sweep all the gold away, and taking a shower because we
believe that if we wash our body or hair, then our own good
luck will be washed away. We also believe that there
should be no bad languages said, fighting, arguments
or anything that means bad luck been said during the
15 days of Lunar New Year. The following things should
not be done during Lunar New Year: do not get yelled at by
your parents, do not broke any glasses, such as bowls, cups,
plates or anything that are glasses. If you get yelled at
during Lunar New Year, then you will get yelled at through
out the year, and if you broke glasses then you crash your good lucks.
We celebrate this holiday this year by going to our
relatives' house and have a visit. If any of our relatives
are married, then they will give us red envelopes with money
in it. Red envelopes are a tradition of Chinese people.
If any Chinese people pray Buddha, then they will have to
buy a chicken, roast pork, fish and fruits to pray the Buddha.
Then after the ceremony, we eat the foods that
have been prayed. We always have a happy and wonderful day
everytime on this day. I also hope that you enjoy this section
and this Lunar New Year essay.

春 节

每 一 个 家 庭 都 有 不 同 的 方 法 来 庆
祝 新 年 ， 每 一 个 地 方 也 有 不 同 的 风 俗 习
惯 。 我 从 小 在 一 个 小 镇 上 长 大 ， 小 镇 虽
然 小 ， 但 我 觉 得 新 年 时 的 庆 祝 不 比 大 城
市 逊 色 ， 而 热 闹 尤 有 过 之 。
过 年 ， 对 于 我 们 中 国 人 来 说 ， 是 全
年 最 重 要 的 节 日 。 每 一 年 ， 我 的 家 乡 和 其
它 地 方 一 样 ， 都 大 肆 庆 祝 新 一 年 的 来 临 。
街 上 热 闹 非 凡 。 有 携 儿 带 子 去 拜 年 的 ， 有
热 络 地 聊 天 的 ， 有 放 烟 花 爆 竹 的 ， 到 处 充
满 了 孩 子 们 欢 乐 的 笑 声 。 我 走 在 熟 悉 的 街
道 上 ， 和 每 一 个 人 打 著 招 呼 ， 装 著 红 包 的
袋 子 有 如 脸 上 的 笑 容 一 样 越 来 越 大 。
忽 然 间 ， 一 阵 锣 鼓 声 传 来 ， 人 们 纷
纷 向 两 旁 让 开 中 间 一 条 路 。 一 头 气 宇 轩 昂
的 雄 狮 精 神 抖 擞 地 舞 进 来 。 有 一 家 人 挂 了
一 个 生 菜 在 窗 外 ， 雄 狮 一 见 ， 立 刻 向 它 舞
去 。 在 窗 下 ， 早 已 预 备 一 张 长 凳 ， 雄 狮 蹦
跳 舞 跃 而 上 ，眼 一 瞪 ， 嘴 一 张 ， 口 一 合 ，
便 将 整 个生 菜 吞 了 下 去 。 这 便 是 人 们 所 称
的 “ 青 ” 了 。 生 菜 面 还 有 一 个 红 包 ，
是 给 舞 狮 者 的 。 人 们 的 掌 声 盖 过 了 锣 鼓 声
。 每 一 年 ， 我 都 会 怀 疑 我 的 耳 朵 有 没 有 被
震 聋 。
虽 然 ， 现 在 我 已 经 身 在 大 城 市 ， 但
是 ， 我 仍 然 怀 念 小 镇 上 过 年 时 的 爆 竹 烟 花
， 小 食 的 香 味 ， 人 们 相 互 祝 贺 的 声 音 ， 孩
子 们 的 笑 声 ， 还 有 在 大 城 市 已 难 得 一 见 的
舞 狮 和 舞 龙 。

我 家 的 春 节

我 家 过 春 节 很 特 别 。
在 年 三 十 晚 ， 要 先 洗 澡 ， 但 不 可 以 洗
头 或 扫 地 。 吃 完 团 年 饭 以 後 ， 小 孩 子 不 用
洗 碗 或 擦 桌 子 。 妈 妈 洗 完 碗 後 ， 我 们 坐 在
一 起 看 电 视 ， 然 後 ， 大 人 们 就 发 红 包 给 小
孩 。 第 二 天 ， 我 们 开 车 到 唐 人 街 玩 ， 看 摆
街 会 。 然 後 ， 我 们 去 餐 馆 吃 饭 和 聊 天 。
年 初 三 ， 奶 奶 在 家 里 包 粽 子 ， 面
有 米 ， 腊 肠 ， 花 生 ， 黄 豆 和 五 花 腩 。 大 约
六 点 时 ， 我 们 就 在 家 包 油 角 ， 油 角 是 用
粉 ， 发 粉 和 番 薯 粉 做 皮 ， 面 有 花 生 ，
