The following report summarizes conditions experienced at
the Jamaica Beach Weather Observatory during Tropical Storm
Charley which made landfall on August 22, 1998 near Rockport,
Texas:

E. BEACH EROSION

Only minor beach erosion was noted.

F. FLOODING

Tidal flooding was limited to overtopping of piers, bulkheads
and some residential yards.  No street flooding was observed.

G. TORNADOES

None.

H. STORM EFFECTS

Charley had only minimal effects on Galveston Island with high
tides probably being the most notable.
