About the Trio!

Cortes, originally hails from California and moved to New York to attend Julliard. As an actor, he's done many television and radio commercials, and was discovered in 1992 by Liza Minnelli while singing with his former group, "The Tonics" in a tiny jazz club in Greenwich Village. His theatre experience includes roles in Beyond Therapy and Alone Together opposite Florence Henderson and Robert Reed. He's done many music videos and two Broadway shows, but arranging and performing with his friends is his favorite thing to do.
Currently at work on several projects for the Cortes Alexander Trio, he loves hearing from fans and hopes the tour with Liza never ends!

Gene, has an extensive background in music, from singing in his church in Northern Idaho, to performing with the Cortes Alexander Trio. He has toured the world several times as a backup vocalist with Grammy Award-winning artist Al Jarreau and has performed with Roberta Flack and Miki Howard, among others. Before joining the trio, Gene sang with Cortes in a pop vocal group they formed called "The Tonics". They were a critically acclaimed group known for their original songs as well as their intricate arrangements. They shared the stage with many artists, such as Bette Midler and Melissa Etheridge and had the great fun of performing in Comic Relief VII. They performed in clubs and concerts from coast to coast and had the honor of performing on the Emmy-nominated PBS Special, Sondheim-A Celebration at Carnegie Hall. Gene has also worked as an actor, but continues to pursue his first love -- music.

Drew Sarich, is from St. Louis and is a recent graduate of the Boston Conservatory. He last appeared in the Off-Broadway hit Tony & Tina's Wedding and recently wrapped up work on Disney's stage adaptation of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. He loves singing with Liza and the guys, and especially loves hearing from admirers. His hobbies include rollerblading and Italian food. Write to Cortes, Gene and Drew! cortstrio@aol.com
