MPHS ALUMNI & VETERAN Garden and Walkway Project

As a way of remembering the alumni who graduated from Midland Park, alumni who served in the Armed Forces, and alumni veterans who died in the Viet Nam War, an Alumni & Veteran Garden and Walkway will be constructed in front of the high school in the area pictured below. The new MPHS Alumni Association, Inc. is handling the development of the project. The walkway will be constructed of brick pavers surrounded by beautiful landscaping. Inscribed bricks are being sold to finance the project. It is our hope that all of the MPHS Alumni and Veterans will support this so that it may become a reality in the very near future.

Walkway Update:
In December of 2000, a referendum was voted down by the town of Midland Park, which would have approved the construction of a new middle school on the property of the high school, in the area of our proposed walkway project.  Fortunately, we were not at the point of starting the project, because if the referendum was passed, the walkway would have had to re-located, causing us more expense.  If a future revision is passed and the middle school is built, our walkway will simply be located in another location, putting us in a more advantageous position, since we would be more involved in the planning of the actual landscaping.

For now, we are waiting to see if and when the Board of Education submits a revised proposal.  When the final decision is made, we will be ready to start construction, either in our original proposed area, as pictured below...or in a new location after the expansion.  If you have purchased your brick, please have patience!  The project WILL happen, but we don't want to act prematurely and have to move the project to another location.  However, we DO need your brick order, so that we will have sufficient funds on hand to begin when we get the "green light".  Even though the project can have bricks added at anytime, to start the initial walkway, we need your order!

The sale of bricks are not restricted to MPHS Alumni only. Families may purchase bricks for their children who have graduated from MPHS, or for remembering lost loved ones who graduated in years gone by. While anyone may purchase a brick, only the names of alumni and veterans are allowed.

If you are interested in purchasing a brick, just click here to get to the order form, which you can easily print out. Then you can send the completed form with payment to our mailing address.

Please do not wait until the project begins! Phase I (laying of the bricks) will start sooner if we all send in our brick orders TODAY! Phase II (landscaping) will happen when remaining funds come in. Our initial goal is 500 inscribed bricks. Phase I, (our halfway point of 250 bricks) is coming close, but we STILL need YOUR order!
