A Winter Soul

The time has come, as time will do,

When summer flowers die.

When once green leaves, now brown by frost,

Fall from the greying sky.

When birds who sang and played in fields,

Must go.. must fly away.

Told by a wise all knowing God,

That here they can not stay.

A time when trees once bowed with fruit,

Stand barren.. bleak and cold.

A time when things once bright with youth,

Stand blackened.. dry and old.

A time when waters deep and blue,

Turn grey from winter's blast.

And all the things that brought us joy,

Have gone since winter's past.

But don't let winter get inside you,

Don't let you joy's depart.

Keep summer in the smile you give,

Keep sunshine in your heart.

You know the summer comes again,

With flowers bright in May.

So don't be caught with winter's past,

On a warm bright summer day...
