The Genealogy society of Washington County was organized August 24, 1996.
The purpose of the Society is to promote, preserve and collect genealogy
information relating to Washington County Mississippi Territory and Washington
County. The society will also be working closely with the Washington County
Historical Society and the Washington County Museum Board on preserving the
history of our county. Data collected will be stored at the Jordan Genealogy
Library on Granade Avenue, Chatom, and they are open by appointments only, but
most Friday or Saturday mornings Barbara Waddell is at the library. Contact
Barbara Waddell (334)847-3156 or Doris Brown 847-2286 and they will be glad to
spend the day with you at the library. Each member is asked to submit an
ancestral chart and any family data or records for publication and a copy will
go into the vertical files. The name of our quarterly is WASHINGTON COUNTY
ANCESTRY and will be published quarterly and meetings are held quarterly, too.
Dues are $10.00 per year beginning with October 1st.
