Box Stitch Kufi or Cap

This is designed as a Kufi type hat but can be worn tugged down like a regular cap.

Materials:

*a few oz of main color and a small amount of contrasting color.

*Size H hook for Adult Average to Large size

*Size G hook for Adult Small

Ch3, join to form a ring.

1: Ch3, work 11 dc in ring. Join.

2: Ch3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each st around. Join. (24sts)

3: Ch3, 2 dc in next st, (dc in next st, 2 in next) around. Join.

4: Ch3, dc in next st, 2 in next, (dc in each of next 2 dc,

2dc in next dc) across. Join.

5: Ch3, dc in next 2 dc, 2 in next, (dc in next 3 dc, 2 in next) across.

Join. (60sts)

6: Ch3, dc in next 3 dc, 2 in next, (dc in next 4 dc, 2 in next) across.

Join. (72sts)

7: Ch3, dc in back loops of each dc around. Join.

8: Working again in both loops, Ch 3, dc in each dc around. Join.

9: Repeat row 8.

10: Ch 4, (skip next 3 dc, sc in next, ch3) around. Join with a sl st in

1st ch of beginning ch4. Fasten off.

11: Join contrasting color in any ch3 space of row 10. Ch 3, 2dc in

same sp, ch 1, (3dc in next ch3 sp, ch1) around. Join. Fasten off.

12: Join main color in any ch1 sp. Ch 4, (sc in next ch1 sp, ch3) around.

Join in 1st ch of beginning ch4. Fasten off.

13: Repeat row 11.

14: Repeat row 12, do not fasten off.

15: Ch 1, work 3 sc in next ch3 space, (sc in next sc, 3 sc in next ch3

sp) around. Join with a sl st to beginning ch1.

Fasten off and weave in loose ends.
