Hat-Headband

 Is it a hat or a headband? I don`t know what to call it; but I`ve seen a lot

of young people wearing these. You can wear it with your hair coming out of

the top. Looks really cute:-)

 

Materials:

* a few oz. of cotton worsted wt. yarn. I used Sugar N Cream

*size G crochet hook

*size H crochet hook

 

Abbreviations:

sc - single crochet

dc - double crochet

sl st - slip stitch

ch - chain

st - stitch

sk - skip

 

Instructions:

Starting with G hook for ribbing:

1: Ch 5. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. Ch1, turn. (4sc)

2: Working in back loops only; sc in each st across. (4sc)

3-51: Repeat row 2.

At end of row 51 sl st or sew the ends together. Fasten off.

 

Switch to H hook:

1: Work 60 sc evenly around edge of ribbed piece.

2: Ch 1, sc in each st around. Join with sl st to first sc.

3: Ch 4 (counts as 1st dc and ch 1); skip 1 st, dc in next st,

   (ch1, sk next st, dc in next st) around. End with ch1, sl st in 3rd

   ch of beginning ch 4.

4: Ch 4, dc in next dc, (ch1, dc in next dc) around. Join to 3rd ch

   of beginning ch 4.

5-6: Repeat row 4.

7: Ch 4, dc in next dc. Ch 1, (dc in next dc -skipping ch1 sp) twice.

   *Ch1, dc in next dc, ch1, (dc in next dc) twice.* Repeat between * *

   around till there are 2 dc left. (Ch1, dc in next dc) twice. Join with a

   sl st in 3rd ch of beginning ch 4. (50 sts)

8: Ch 1, sc in each dc and ch1 sp around. Join with sl st. Fasten off.
