Light and Cozy Shawl

Light and Cozy Shawl

Design by Janelle Schlossman 2003

Materials:

Size L Crochet Hook

15 oz of Worsted Wt. Yarn

Gauge:

4 sts = 2” and 3 rows = 2”

Size: 100” wide and 45” long.

Note: Using a large hook with the worsted wt yarn makes a light and cozy fabric. I`ve made mine larger because, well; I`m a large lady J But  since you are starting  the shawl from the top  center and working your way outwards; you can make it any size you wish so every one on your gift list can have a shawl made personally for their size. You can add fringe too if you like. This is also the type of pattern I call brain candy because it is easy enough to do while you’re watching TV. No complex instructions to worry about. For the shawl in the photo I used Red Heart Yarn, the color is Country Blue.

1: Chain 3; work hdc-ch 1-2 hdc in 3rd ch from hook. Ch 2, turn.

2: (Ch 2 counts as first st.). Hdc in same st as turning ch, hdc in next st,  hdc – ch 1- hdc in ch 1 space; hdc in next st; 2 hdc in last st. Ch 2, turn.

3: Hdc in same st as turning ch, hdc across to ch 1 sp. Hdc-ch1-hdc in ch 1 space. Hdc across to last st. Work 2 hdc in last st. Ch 2, turn.

4 to 50: Repeat row 3.

51: Work a row of sc around all edges working sc-ch1-sc in each corner. Join with a sl st. Fasten off.
