Materials: * About 3
oz each of 2 colors of worsted wt. yarn (I used Red Heart in Lt. Sage and
Bernat`s Camouflage yarn in Renegade) * Sizes J and K crochet
hooks
Easy!! Stitches used are single crochet and double crochet. Size is
adult large. (About 22")
**NOTE** Weave in or work over all loose ends as
you go along. **
With first color and size J hook: Ch 4; join with sl
st in 1st ch to form a ring. 1: Ch 3; work 11 dc in ring. Join with sl st to
top of ch 3. (12 dc) 2: Ch 3; dc in same st; work 2 dc in each st around.
Join. (24 dc) 3: Ch 3; 2 dc in next st; (dc in next st, 2 dc in next) around.
Join. (36 dc) 4: Ch 3, dc in next st; 2 dc in next st; (dc in next 2 sts, 2
dc in next st) around. Join. (48 dc) 5: Ch 3, dc in next2 sts, 2 dc in next
st; (dc in next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st) around. Join. (60 dc) 6: Ch 3, dc in
next 13 sts, 2 dc in next st; (dc in next 14 sts, 2 dc in next st) around. Join.
(64 dc) 7: Ch 3, dc in each st around. Join. 8 - 12: Repeat row 7. 13:
Ch 1, sc in each st around. Join with sl st to beginning ch 1. Switch to size
K hook. 14 - 16: Repeat row 7. 17: Ch 1, sc in each st around.
Join. Fasten off 1st color. Join next color in same st. 18: Repeat row
17. 19 - 21: Repeat row 7. Switch back to size J hook. 22: Repeat row
13. 23 - 28: Repeat row 7. (64 sts) 29: Ch 3, dc in next 13 sts; decrease
over the next two sts; (dc in next 14 sts, dec) around. Join. (60 sts) 30: Ch
3, dc in next 2 sts; dec; (dc in next 3 sts, dec) around. Join. (48 sts) 31:
Ch 3, dc in next st, dec; (dc in next 2 sts, dec) around. Join. (36 sts) 32:
Ch 3, dec; (dc in next st, dec) around. Join. (24 sts) 33: Ch 2, dc in next
st (beginning decrease made). (Dec over next 2 sts) around. Join with sl st to
top of dc. (12 sts) 34: Ch 1, sc in next st; ( sc decrease over next 2 sts)
around. Join with sl st to 1st sc. (6sts)
Weave end through the remaining
sts, draw closed; fasten off and weave in loose end. The photo at the bottom
of the page shows what your hat will look like when your done.
It looks big but just tuck one
side up into the other and it will feel just right. I`ve made quite a lot of
these and
they`re pretty warm. :-)
