Pointers

A pointer is a sporting dog bred to locate and point birds.  His original purpose is as a hunting companion.  Years of careful breeding for a dog who works alongside his human companions has produced a wonderful family dog that is affectionate, loyal, and gentle with children.  Pointers require daily exercise, and make cheerful companions when properly trained.

Breeding Philosophy

Corwyn Pointers are bred for temperament, type and performance abilities.  

First and foremost is temperament.  A pointer is your loyal companion, and his temperament is his most important attribute.  Corwyn pointers are affectionate, easy to train and adaptable to any lifestyle that provides proper training, care and exercise.  A Corwyn pointer is happy in the field, in the show or obedience ring, among your family, and in your home.

We have carefully chosen our foundation stock from a long history of Show and Field Champions.  A working pointer is your loyal and cheerful companion.  We strive to demonstrate Corwyn pointers' abilities in all aspects of dog excellence: Conformation, Field and Obedience.

Pointer Rescue

As breeders, we are committed to rescue and feel that it is an important responsibility as guardians of the breed.  It is important to Corwyn to assist in rehabilitating and placing rescued pointers in homes where they can be a valued family member.  We actively support rescue both Nationally and Regionally.  We occasionally have rescue pointers available at Corwyn, and we are always happy to forward inquiries to other foster homes.  We participate in the National Pointer Resscue (Pointerrescue.Org, Inc.) that has a website where you can find Pointers available all over the country.   Most of these dogs adapt well to life as a housepet, and all are evaluated as carefully as possible to help place them in the right homes.
