TODDOT Smooth Fox Terriers

Beginnings

Toddot started in 1987 with a little girl named Blue Danube's Lady Lawton from the Blue Danube Kennels.  Foxy as she was called, was the result of a breeding by the late Fr. Robinett and was out of the English import, Ch Safe Convoy.  Foxy was 3 when she came and after a short show career, she retired to life as a  mother and couch potato.  Smooth Fox Terriers were a new breed for me as my previous experience had been with Smooth Coat Chihuahua's.  What a change!  She stole my heart and the breed changed my perspective on showing, grooming and life with dogs for ever.

A few other smooths have passed through the Toddot home since Foxy, and thanks to several wonderful dog people (to include a Doberman person!) and fox terrier folks who have served as my mentors, I have owner handled all my dogs and finished several since my start.

My motto has always been quality, not quantity and there have been relatively few litters born that have carried the Toddot name.  One goal of Toddot is to produce dogs that can be just as successful in the performance ring as well as they were in the breed ring.  Ch. Caribe Get Smart Toddot,  CD (aka Max) earned the obedience title of Companion Dog (CD), again trained and handled by me.

Today

Today, Toddot is the home to:

CH Caribe Get Smart Toddot, CD    "Max"

CH  Toddot's Oh My Woodstock    "Woody"

CH Toddot's My Girl Lucy    "Lucy"

Max  was my first champion and obedience dog.  I'm happy to say he's healthy, happy and teaching the younger generations of Toddot dogs how to behave.  Max also does therapy dog work and loves to visit local nursing homes.

Woody finished so quickly I didn't know what to do.  Woody is out as a special and has taken several BOB over top wining specials.  Woody also recently received an Award of Merit at the Fox Terrier Club of Chicago specialty show and the American Fox Terrier Club's floating national specialty at the Chain O'Lakes Kennel Club show in Greyslake, IL June 17 and 18 2000.

Lucy earned her major wins in a very big way.  The first came when she was selected as Winners Bitch at the Fox Terrier Club of Greater Houston last July and the second when she was selected as Winners Bitch at the Devon KC show (part of the Montgomery weekend and the Smooth Fox Terrier Association of America national specialty).  Lucy is now retired from the show ring and hoping to become a mother next spring.

The Toddot home is also actively involved with fox terrier rescue and several rescued fox terriers have found refuge from the world that abandoned them here.  Through the work of the American Fox Terrier Club rescue program, the Fox Terrier Network and several wonderful friends in Oklahoma City and Lawton, we have been able to place these dogs in homes with families that understand and accept them.

I've been blessed with an understanding boss and all of the dogs at Toddot accompanied me to the office at various times throughout the year.  They have been a great hit among my staff as well as visitors to the various Commanding Generals at Fort Sill throughout the years.

Hopes for the Future

While Lucy is retired from the breed ring, she is far from retired.  Lucy will be starting obedience training this fall and with a short break for motherhood next spring, I hope she'll earn her Companion Dog title in the fall of 2001.

Woody has all ready sired 2 litters of puppies.  He has helped to produce short backs, firm toplines, good bone, rears and tail sets, coupled with a proper neck and head asembly, just an overall nice quality of dog.  Woody is still maturing and I feel he has not yet reach his peak.  Woody has lots of time left to compete in the breed ring as a special and you may see him at shows in the South West.

The Toddot home will remain active in rescue both as a foster home and for referals. Hopefully, the stay for these dogs will be short as good homes are found.
