Jeanie Moore MVO
Jeanie was born in 1928 in Suffolk, daughter of the choirmaster of Southwold church. Her early childhood was spent in the beautiful seaside town of Southwold, and the Second World War years at a progressive boarding school in Wiltshire. From the age of 3, music has been a constant thread throughout Jeanie's life. After her early musical studies, which included piano and voice, Jeanie joined her husband in collecting and singing ballads from around the world. The "Moore Duo" turned professional in 1962 whilst living in the USA and appeared on TV, both in the US and UK, and live at the final 'sell out' concert on Miami Beach before returning to the UK. In 1980 Jeanie commenced promoting artistes in concerts for the YMCA and since 1993 has been organising the International Lunchtime Concert Series at the Plymouth City Museum & Art Gallery, England. Over a period of 21 years, Jeanie helped young disadvantaged people, through her work with The Prince's Trust, and in 1999 was appointed a Member of the Royal Victorian Order by Her Majesty the Queen, in recognition of her service to The Trust. Now in her third age and third career, Jeanie has extended her horizon to presenting her own 'Musical Journeys Through Life' with joyful and humorous stories, illustrated by a colourful kaleidoscope of music from 'Bach to Boogie'! "an extremely entertaining evening. Please come again!"Tavistock Recorded Music Society "We were fascinated and enthralled by the stories of your life filled with music and adventure. Thank you for sharing some of your 'sunshine' with us and brightening our day, and for the musical gems with which you 'coloured' your stories."Ros Palmer, Curator, Torquay Museum
